Lead Production Technician

Eaton’s Hydraulics division is currently seeking a Lead Production Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Brooklyn, OH facility.


Position Overview:


The Lead Production Technician will support production activities in order to meet the site’s performance goals. Responsibilities include providing manufacturing support for CNC Programming and working with manufacturing to resolve production issues. This position will be responsible for creating CNC Programs, as well as, championing cost reduction initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs.

In this function, you will:
  • Create and maintain accurate process documentation such as standard work, CNC programs and set-up sheets in compliance with ISO and the Eaton Quality Management System.

  • Create and maintain CNC programs for 3-axis lathe and milling machine tools.

  • Ensure the CNC program distribution systems and other systems are functional and current. Establish plans to keep equipment current and capable of supporting business needs.

  • Review existing operations, incorporate new methods and processes to improve efficiency.

  • Design and/or develop innovative part holding fixtures that minimize set-ups and maximize productivity.

  • Develop manufacturing cost estimates for new and modified products; identify specifications and requirements, obtain quotes and project costs, study reducibility of product designs and recommend alterations to enhance manufacturing feasibility.

  • Study manufacturing processes, machine capacity and tooling requirements and recommends changes to increase efficiency. Plan and complete testing of new tooling and/or machining concepts.

  • Participates in activities involved in compliance with government regulations and ensures good operating practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts in assigned areas to ensure that our facility is competitive in the market place.

  • Develop and implement plans to increase manufacturing throughput and reduce cost.

 

Eaton has announced it has reached an agreement to sell its Hydraulics Business to Danfoss A/S. This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 and this position is expected to remain with the Hydraulics Business and would transfer to Danfoss A/S. upon close.  The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Hydraulics Business when the transaction closes, Danfoss A/S will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
  • OR High School Diploma/GED with a CNC Certification from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement environment or CNC Programming Technician experience
  • This position requires the use of information or access to technology which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR/EAR. ITAR/EAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates currently located within a 50 mile radius of Brooklyn, OH, will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience programming CNC machines within a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience as a CNC Machinist.
 
Position Success Criteria :
  • Proficient with creating and editing CNC Programming, specifically on 3-axis lathe and mill machine tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of Fanuc & Haas CNC Controls.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine shop practices, calculating optimal speeds and feeds, tooling applications, jig and fixture design, assembly practices and welding techniques.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Provide guidance and support the ongoing development of employees in the Machinist classification.

  • Work collaboratively with all operators to drive improvements and standardization within operations through utilization of indirect leadership style.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be able to work off-shifts as well as periodic weekend coverage as needed.

  • Must be able to solve Machine tooling and process issues and remove interrupters for the workforce.
