Eaton’s Center for Connected Intelligent Solutions (CCIS) is currently seeking a Solutions Architect to join our team! This position is based at our Moon Township, PA facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.

In this function you will:  

  • Lead the design and development of an IoT Platform including connected devices, API development, web and mobile applications, enterprise services, big data analytics, entitlement, and the integration of testing and cyber-security best practices.
  • Be responsible for defining and building out a software system architecture for IoT and cloud applications including the interconnectivity of embedded devices, user interface (web and mobile applications), and backend services. 
  • Design and build performant systems that scale, are highly available, fault-tolerant, self-monitoring and serviceable.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define architectures that meet customer and technical requirements across a variety of products. Participate and contribute in developing solutions that will change how our customers and service organizations install, commission, operate and interact with our products.
  • Work closely with 3rd party vendors and stay ahead of emerging tools and technology. Ensure high standards are being followed when it comes to design, coding quality, unit testing and integration testing.
  • Have experience with technologies across all elements of full stack development including data stores, web servers, REST services, micro-services, web and app development in order to collaborate with teams to arrive at designs that are secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective. 
  • Have an open mind to understand and shape new solutions based on both emerging & established technologies. Develop and deploy solutions on Microsoft Azure.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science from an accredited institution, preferred.
  • Experience utilizing best practices in software engineering.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and concepts.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
  • Experience with virtualization, containers, service-mesh and enterprise service bus.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Experience with NoSQL database systems.

Position Criteria:

  • Teamwork, communication, strong interpersonal skills across cultural and organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts.
  • Abreast of upcoming software development/engineering tools, trends, and methodologies.
  • Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Expert level skills in C# and/or Java and associated IDE’s (Visual Studio, Eclipse, IntelliJ, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of other languages such as Python or Scala.
  • Thorough understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading concepts.
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and programming skills, including the use of design patterns.
  • Solid understanding of network and distributed computing concepts.
  • Thorough understanding of relational and non-relational database systems.
  • Working knowledge of microservices and reactive streams.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts, tools, and technologies.
  • Strong problem solving and software debugging skills.
