Primary functions:


The Sales Director will lead, direct and develop a team of sales managers that will have the responsibility of achieving the established sales and margin goals. This position will implement the Africa growth strategy in areas such as sales volume, market share and business development and will monitor the performance of the sales organization against the goals.

      

 

Essential functions:
  • Lead, direct and supervise all Africa (North, West, East and South Africa) sales functions to ensure policies, procedures and activities meet the organization’s short and long-term business objectives.
  • Defines Africa regional strategy, coordinates and coaches team on all efforts related to demand creation and account management. Encompassing, but not limited to, customer visits, product presentations and training, sampling and quotation, and channel management.

  • Negotiate terms of sales with major clients in accordance to company policies and with the objective of maximizing profitable revenues.

  • Establish targets for Regional sales teams in areas such as sales revenues, price realization, and business development and monitor the performance of the organization against these goals.

  • Contribute to business planning at the top executive level to develop a sales strategy that is consistent with the organization’s short-term and long-term objectives as documented in the strategic plan.

  • Liaise with other senior executives across the organization to ensure that sales strategies and activities are integrated with other parts of the business and in alignment with the overall corporate objectives.

  • Develop, maintain and improve business relations with all customers. Deploys Strategic Account Alignment Process to identify and develop new customers and new sales opportunities.

  • Directs Regional commercial team on documenting and communicating to the marketing team pertinent market data: VOC, technology trends, and new application opportunities to help define new product development objectives and technology roadmaps.

  • Documents, tracks and reports on progress to management on local and international levels

  • Participates in Regional technical conferences, and trade shows related to the electronic industry to stay up to date with market trends, and competitive landscape.

  • Work with finance team to establish Regional budgets for the commercial team and monitor expenses to stay within these plans.

  • Significant travel within Africa and Europe Region.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science with a minimum of 10 years in the electronic component industry.

  • Solid experience in the Africa industry. Proven business success in managing a sales portfolio and achieving profitable growth.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the African electronic distribution network.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and be capable of integrating various functions.

  • Commercially and technically savvy, customer-focused with the ability to think strategically.

  • The incumbent must incorporate best practices in his/her management style and have a sense of urgency in solving problems.

  • Familiarity with using and managing a sales team thru a CRM system desired.
