Eaton is currently seeking a Lead Tax Analyst in State and Local tax to join our team. This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Beachwood, OH.
The Lead Tax Analyst – State and Local is a dynamic role within the State and Local Tax (“SALT”) function of Eaton reporting to the Manager – State Tax Governance. The position’s primary purpose is to provide assistance in ensuring that Eaton and its US subsidiaries are fully compliant with US state and local tax laws and ASC 740 accounting.

Prepare state and local income and franchise tax returns using Corptax software
Prepare responses to state audit document requests
Prepare estimated tax payments and extension requests while assuring that Eaton is utilizing appropriate payment methods
Assist with ASC 740 accounting
Prepare initial responses to various income and franchise tax document requests issued by state taxing authorities, taking responsibility for locating and compiling requested information and drafting written IDR responses
Assist Manager – State Tax Controversy with review and analysis of auditors’ reports
Gather and reconcile state apportionment source data
Prepare various business license and gross receipts tax returns including Ohio CAT
Assist in the quarterly current and deferred income tax provision process including state effective tax rates, the SALT current provision, and deferred taxes associated with tax attributes and timing differences
Assist with the preparation of ‘return to provision’ adjustments and applicable journal entries
Prepare quarterly account reconciliations
Assist with responses to state notices and other tax correspondence
Develop a network of peers for the purpose of optimizing the flow of information within the tax department and to participate in process improvement initiatives
Complete state tax research to assist with the analysis of technical issues on an as-needed basis
Assist with various special projects and state tax process improvements and initiatives

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance and/or tax from an accredited institution
- Minimum five (5) years of state income tax experience
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Beachwood, OH will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
- Master of Taxation
Experience in a large multinational corporate state income tax environment or in a large sized public accounting firm
- CorpTax experience
- Research experience using Checkpoint or a comparable product
Strong computer skills including Microsoft applications, financial accounting systems (HFM, Oracle, SAP), and tax compliance programs
Fundamental understanding of state income tax law with a demonstrated experience and ability to apply applicable state tax laws
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles
- Experience in ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes
Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities and meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to quickly understand financial accounting and tax software programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform basic research of state tax technical issues
