Electrical Control Panel Wireman - Afternoon Shift

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking an Electrical Control Panel Wireman to join our team! This position is based at our Milton, Ontario facility and will be working on the afternoon shift. 


Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the mounting and wiring of components and sub-assemblies.  The Electrical Control Panel Wireman is responsible for the safety of the electrical systems so they must know and adhere to government regulations, building codes, and safety rules.

In this function you will:

  • Read and utilize electrical schematics and engineering specifications to layout, mount, wire, and troubleshoot industrial power and control components.
  • Understand various methods of connection and apply proper methods to the equipment you are building.  This position will run control wire from point to point on each component.
  • Organize circuitry within panels for proper voltage level separation.
  • Layout enclosures and sub panels for assembly/cutouts based on information provided.
  • Wire equipment with proper voltage level, current level and industry standard color code per prints provided.
  • Cross check electrical and mechanical components required for the build against the bill of material.
  • Communicate schematic issues/concerns/errors with Team Lead or Manager.
  • Use various electrical components, gauges, and power tools to assemble, adjust, or repair product and modify any errors detected by test/inspection.
  • Work to CSA and UL code.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years control wiring experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within an 80 km of Milton will be considered.
  • Must be able to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience of strong attention to detail with a high focus on quality.
  • Good problem solving, mathematical skills and troubleshooting ability.
  • 3+ years experience of electrical control panel assembly
  • Computer skills and knowledge of wire marker print programs
Position Criteria:
  • Knowledge of CSA and UL code.
  • Working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read and interpret bill of materials, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience of strong attention to detail with a high focus on quality.
  • Good problem solving, mathematical skills and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced/changing environment
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to facilitate teams/groups and work with all levels of the organization
  • Good PC skills, including MS office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Internet
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes and Six Sigma Tools preferred
  • Effective time management and project management skills
