Electrical Test Technician

Job Description

Eaton’s Power Reliability Division, a part of our Electrical sector, is currently seeking an Electrical Test Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Olean, NY facility.


Position Overview:


As a key member of the Product Engineering Department, works closely with product development staff on product testing direction, supports design direction, and assures design robustness through compliance to required standards. 


The Electrical Test Technician will provide a full range of established laboratory services involved in product development, production, or certification with minimum supervision by reviewing requests for analysis and executing appropriate procedures to accomplish the assignment. 


The position is also responsible for the establishment and continuous improvement of testing capabilities and processes while maintaining/improving lab safety.

In this function you will:
  • Work closely with product development staff and advises on product design direction.

  • Assure design robustness through compliance to required standards.

  • Conduct a variety of electrical, mechanical or chemical tests according to general instructions and/or established test procedures.

  • Evaluate test progress and recommend test procedure changes to provide more accurate results and/or to trace specific causes of unfavorable test results.

  • Perform both standardized and unique tests on electrical power distribution apparatus involving high voltage.

  • Execute test, collecting test data, and evaluating results.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Electrical Technology related field

  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience (co-op or internship experience applicable)

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Olean, NY will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution  

  • Experience with working in an electrical testing environment

  • Experience with high voltage electrical testing

  • Understanding of Practical Electrical Theory
  • Experience using LabVIEW
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
