Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking an EHS Manager – Distribution Center to join our team. This position is based at our Dallas Fort Worth location. We are offering relocation for this role.

   
Position Overview:


This is an exciting opportunity to launch a startup distribution facility for Eaton.  We are looking for the EHS Manager – Distribution Center who will thrive with the opportunity to strongly influence the safety and culture of this facility. The Manager of Environmental, Safety/Security Health (MESH) is a member of the Dallas Leadership Team and leads the safety, security, health and environmental policies of the Dallas Distribution Center.  The EHS Manager will be responsible for establishing, managing and coordinates all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs for the facility.  The EHS Manager will develop, implement, and drive programs which enable the facility to meet regulatory and corporate requirements. The EHS Manager supports the creation of a strong culture that engages employees in the achievement of the company’s goal of a “Zero Incident” Culture.

In this function you will:

  • Lead the creation of the site EHS targets and objectives (MESH Plan) in support of corporate, regional and business group EHS strategic initiatives designed to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.

  • Develop and conducts training and learning opportunities aimed at growing employee understanding, ability and competency as it relates to EHS endeavors and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Develop behavior-based safety programs and works collaboratively with all employees to create and promote a zero incident EHS culture throughout site.

  • Ensure that the federal, state, and local EHS regulations are met including air, land and water to provide a safe working environment for employees, and a clean and healthful environment for the community.

  • Develops/maintains plant emergency response plans and ensures drills are performed to document plan effectiveness.  May serve as the plant emergency coordinator.

  • Investigates incidents/accidents to determine root causes and prepares and implements corrective action plans

  • Prepare and submit required Federal, State and local governmental reports in regard to hazardous waste disposal, air emissions and plant waste discharge.

  • Evaluates proposed projects and proposed new chemicals and ensures plans are in-place and implemented to address EHS compliance issues e.g. Ensuring MESH MOC Process is implemented

  • Coordinates and assists with corporate initiatives, participating on teams in order to drive best practices across Eaton Corp.

  • Develops/maintains all required written safety plans, e.g., Hearing Conservation, PPE

  • Ensures all required plant safety inspections are performed and documented, e.g., fire extinguishers, fire risers, emergency response equipment, safety showers, eye wash stations, emergency lights, ladders, housekeeping and that corrective actions are completed for identified deficiencies

  • Use established EHS data processes such as MESH Prism to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information including maintenance of the OSHA log.

  • Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion. You will work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

  • Comply with Eaton’s ethics policy and keeps the management team informed of issues associated with regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing / distribution environment.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Experience working in a start up
Position Criteria:
  • Knowledge of state and federal occupational environmental, health and safety and health laws and regulations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; strong leadership, coaching and influence management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams 
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and formal problem-solving methods used to identify root cause and drive corrective actions
  • Demonstrated experience in deployment of safety programs
  • Knowledge of workers compensation administration 

  • Data-driven, disciplined, objective, and detail-oriented.

  • Acts as a business partner; sees the big picture and works through ambiguity and change.

  • Ability to be energetic, a critical thinker, skilled in driving process improvement.

  • Ability to influence and motivate people.
