Quality Engineer

Job Description

Eaton’s Power Motion Control division, a part of our Hydraulic sector, is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our White City, OR location. 


Position Overview:


The Quality Engineer will provide oversight and monitor quality procedures, control plans and documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standard.


The incumbent will work in close coordination with multiple departments by supplying supporting order documentation and to review customer orders and quotes when requested to determine quality requirements and manufacturing capability to meet them.


You will conduct root cause analysis and drive improvement efforts within the plant, while partnering with supply chain to promote supplier improvements impacting overall plant quality performance.


You will also lead investigations and respond to customer requests for Corrective Action Reports (CARE) on product performance.

In this function you will:
  • Lead investigations and respond to internal/ external quality issues. Monitor the key performance indicators and take appropriate actions to mitigate risk as needed.

  • Support continuous improvement projects pertaining to key performance metrics for the plant as assigned.

  • Conduct Supplier Quality Assessments (SQA) and support ongoing supplier quality maintenance by doing surveys to keep them on the approved supplier list in collaboration with Supply Chain team.

  • Lead internal audit functions as required to maintain and comply with Eaton Quality System (EQS)

  • Operate as company liaison with external quality issues such as:  Government QARs, ISO auditors, customer audits and items at other locations.

  • Assess the training requirements in plant operations for quality systems; design training for site and provide specialized training as needed.

  • Update on various metrics report as needed by function to deliver status to leadership team.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 5 years of experience working in industrial manufacturing as a manufacturing engineering, quality control, or production supervisor

    OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and minimum of 1 year working in industrial manufacturing as a manufacturing engineering, quality control, or production supervisor

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of White City, OR will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing engineering or Industrial engineering) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Quality Control in industrial job shop manufacturing including the use of ISO procedures, use of SPC in a low volume – high mix production environment.

  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Skilled in the use of Minitab.
  • Six Sigma certified
  • Experience with lean manufacturing practices
  • CQE
  • Experience with quality, gauge, and/or internal/external audits

  • Proficient in the use of MS-Excel and data analysis.

Eaton has announced it has reached an agreement to sell its Hydraulics Business to Danfoss A/S.. This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 and this position is expected to remain with the Hydraulics Business and would transfer to Danfoss A/S. upon close.  The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Hydraulics Business when the transaction closes, Danfoss A/S will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.
