This exciting role offers opportunity to:
Perform cradle to grave activities for launch and sustenance of Crouse Hinds Division Power Distibution & Wiring Management Products.
Plan and specify product design requirements to create detailed validation and verification plans. Work on concept development, perform detailed hand calculations, design analyses, failure mode effect analysis to come up with design that meets the requirements and complies with relevant certification standards.
Coordinate the prototype manufacturing of products.
Coordinate testing activities with Engineering and Production test teams.
Conduct failure analysis examinations and prepare Failure Analysis Reports (FAR) of findings. Perform root cause analysis to come up with corrective - preventive action plan and implement it.
Come up with proposals for New Product Development & Cost out working with Sales and Marketing to develop products based on inputs from Strategic Plan.
Prepare/review documents including cost estimates (NRE), appropriation requests, project schedules, design and instruction specifications, certification drawings, assignment & IF sheet, and technical reports.
Lead design reviews for Power Distribution & Wiring Management products. Perform detailed reviews of Engineering Work Packages to ensure quality of deliverables, identification & mitigation of technical risks.
Build the team capability through training / coaching / mentoring.
Develop design practice / design guide artifacts to ensure accelerated development of products compliant with requirements & certification standards.
Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and sales team.
Track, Guide & Mentor DFSS and CI projects & drive DFX culture within organization.
BE/B.Tech/MS/M.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of mechanical product design experience.
Minimum 5 years of technical leadership / project - product management experience.
Experience in the design and development of Power Distribution & Wiring Management Products for harsh & hazardous environment.
Awareness of all regulatory (UL, CSA, IEC, EN, CE, etc.) aspects of Industrial control panels, Panelboards and/or Cable glands and Fittings.
Experience with PLM systems, i.e. ENOVIA and SAP.
Experience of using CAD software such as Solidworks.
Experience with stress analysis, including finite element modeling.
Experience with GD&T, Tolerance stack-ups, etc.
DFSS GB certified person with established track record for mentoring & driving DFSS projects.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good analytical skills and strong business acumen to understand the consequences of decisions
Strong communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written
Awareness of international cultures
Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others.
Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus
Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team.
Leverage expertise from other Eaton divisions to continuously improve design standards.
