Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Engineer.SLS.Sales Support.Applications Engineering to join our team. This position is based at our Mexico City WTC office.

The Engineer.SLS.Sales Support.Applications Engineering is responsible to provide technical pre-sales support to the assigned customer base, to increase sales in the local marketplace, application guidance and technical assistance to assigned customers and/or distributors and facilitate the incoming of orders that are profitable to Eaton.

As a Technical Support Pre-Sales (Software /Connectivity), you will manage escalations coming from distributors and end users across LAN & Caribbean region.

Some activities related with the position will be:

  • Handling incoming requests (70% e-mails, 30% phone) about Software and Management Cards technical issues from the Eaton technical support in the countries.

  • Analyze and Follow-up the cases until they are fixed performing IT tools in place to track all cases.

  • When necessary, lead technical meeting with the Eaton local correspondents, Engineering and possibly end customers and/or inform them via technical bulletin

  • Train our Sales team, CSE´s, distributors and key accounts in Eaton connectivity and software catalog

  • Maintain and update the technical laboratory for the customer demonstrations

  • Time to time visit on customer site as technical expert

  • Interface with Engineering (product developer and qualification team) for complex technical issues

  • Interface with Product management to sum up enhancements required or new needs

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science (IT / Networking / Telecommunications)

  • 3 years of experience in Technical Support / Engineering

  • Able to capture Network frames from a network analyzer tool (and analyzes the problem) (e.g. Wireshark, …)

  • Able to use debug tools and verbose modes of SW and connectivity tools

  • Able to develop some simple scripts (bash shell, MS-DOS batch, JavaScript, etc…) to adapt the product behavior to the customer specific needs

  • Ability to share the information with others: team spirit

  • Desired experience in UPS market, Data Center/Power Quality.

  • Knowledge/Experience of Eaton Power Quality products and their applications.

  • IT Networking skills:
  • Understanding of following protocols SNMP (V1/V3), IP V4/V6, SSL, HTTP, XML, MODBUS (RTU & TCP/IP) BACnet.

  • Management of Windows tool to capture serial information

  • Operating Systems / Virtualization:
  • Advance user Microsoft Windows 2003/XP/Vista/2008/7/8, Ubuntu, Linux RHEL / Suse, VMware, Vcenter ESX/ESXi , Microsoft Hyper-V, Xen Citrix, RedHat

  • Proficiency in computer skills Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Project Management).

  • Collect, analyze and utilize market intelligence data on competitive products, customer needs, preferences and buying habits.
