Location: Dublin, Ireland
CIP has grown in Dublin to over 42 people with the total Eaton team located here reaching ca 70. The team will continue to grow in 2020 and beyond, extending its local and global footprint.
It is the strategic intention to further develop CIP’s global footprint of highly talented and skilled people with the majority of researchers operating from and based in Dublin, Ireland. The Director of the CIP is now seeking to augment his growing team with an outstanding Director to oversee the delivery of technology output across three key projects: Power Genome, Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence.
The primary purpose of this Director appointment is to focus on delivery and execution. We are seeking a mature executive who intimately understands what’s involved in terms of software product pipelining and road-mapping and can interpret and align the team’s activity to business requirements and ensure that product is delivered within the right Frameworks to deadline. Ultimately, we are seeking high technical acumen combined with excellent commercial skills and people leadership.

THE VALUE YOU WILL DELIVER:
Overall responsibility for the delivery of multiple product development and support teams
Maximise business value being delivered to the business by empowering teams to operate at peak performance, and holding them to account for their responsibilities
Help individuals develop, through effective coaching, 1-1’s, mentoring, and career planning
Carry out skip level meetings to develop deep knowledge of operations and help support the development of team members
Address underperformance appropriately, and with suitable urgency
Future planning, including active involvement in hiring and growing our engineering team to ensure foundations are laid for teams to execute successfully
Remove blockers to success, troubleshooting and mediating to find solutions where required
Develop strong understanding of technology strategy and customer needs, and ensure this is shared with the team on an ongoing basis
Contribute to technology strategy to maximise value for the business and our customers
Promote excellent communication practices within the team
Manage internal and external stakeholder needs and expectations
Owner of change initiatives within engineering, ensuring they are introduced effectively and established sustainably
- 10 years + related engineering delivery experience in data science and controls systems and solutions design, applied research, new product development, program management and innovation processes.
7 years’ experience leading engineering / delivery teams.
Proven track record of optimising team capability and talent through effective recruiting, training, coaching, development and optimization of organisational structure.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Statistics.
Experience in automotive, aerospace, O&G, grid infrastructure, mining, data centres segments of advantage
Direct experience leading industrial product engineering and technology teams of advantage
Demonstrated excellence in applications of machine learning with experience with both physics-based and numerical modelling and simulation techniques of advantage
Proficiency in software-enabled and embedded controls development issues, especially in the context of model-based and hardware-in-loop control algorithm and software development processes of advantage
Proficiency in IoT architectures including cloud/edge computing, storage, processing and analytical techniques of advantage

Release processes optimised
Complete control of technology delivery process such that releases are structured in the appropriate Frameworks
Plan in place to further grow and develop the team
