Senior Product Manager - Residential and Light Commercial

Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Senior Product Manager – Residential and Light Commercial to join our team. This position is based at our Burlington, ON.  If residing outside 80 km of location, relocation will be offered for position.


Position Overview:

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for all Marketing functions of the Product Line including product line strategy and planning, customer support services, field support service, training, distribution support, marketing communications, direction setting of the General Sales Force, and action plans that ensure a customer focused product offering and profitable growth.


Primary responsibility to lead Product marketing team with responsibility for strategic pricing & price realization, participation in stage-gate product development process, strategic partner development, and product positioning as measured by revenue, price realization, product mix and margin. Secondary responsibility is to interface with Product Development, Commercial Marketing, Operations, and Selling Organization.

In this function you will:

  • Maintain accountability for the P&L for assigned products and business

  • Establish Profit Plan sales goals of business unit and direct the resources of the Marketing department to ensure these goals and objectives are met

  • Develop the Business Plan for the assigned products and business. This includes: available market, market segmentation, competitive situation, market trends and drivers, target markets and customers, investment required, potential revenue/financial analysis, and recommendations.

  • Manage pricing/position strategies in relation to competitive market pressures and margin trends to ensure corporate objectives are met.

  • Manage the introduction of all new products, including: pricing, profit goals, promotional materials, release plans, forecast and inventory planning.

  • Manage and coordinate Marketing Communications activities to ensure that corporate positioning is consistent with business plan strategies.

  • Manage product market strategies to maximize sales and profit potential. Manage product development priorities, product specifications, system functionality, and budget tradeoffs.

  • Manage the interactions between the sales force and the Marketing department to focus product development to strategic customer/industry needs.

  • Ensure that appropriate business policies, practices, and relationships are established and maintained with customers and channel partners.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • A degree or diploma is required in Engineering, Operations, or Business.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in management, strategic marketing, sales or operations.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in residential & light commercial electrical products including loadcenters, meter sockets & meter stacks, marina power, generators, residential ATS & surge.

  • Must be able to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred qualifications:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of different organizational levels.

  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration is an asset.

  • Previous marketing and sales experience in the form of a product manager, product engineer, marketing specialist or outside sales would be beneficial.

  • Must possess a solid understanding of relevant industrial and commercial markets and technologies.

  • Strong technical product aptitude of electrical distribution and/or control systems is a pre-requisite.

  • Prior experience in developing product roadmaps, positioning strategy, price management, value proposition development and launching new products.

  • Experience working with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance and multiple sales channels.

  • Must be experienced in facilitating customer meetings and delivering presentations.
