This exciting role offers opportunity to:

  • Designs, develops and validates firmware for switchgear and regulator controls. Contribute to the firmware development efforts by contributing to the architecture, design, and implementation of world class, high-performance, embedded firmware applications.

  • Collaborates with global teams to capture requirements and work on support requests and/or new feature additions to the product. Evaluate business requirements to determine potential solutions

  • Propose and provide innovative, competitive technical solutions which can make significant business impact and provide value to stakeholders.

  • Work directly with stakeholders, engineering, and test to create high quality products that solve customer problems

  • Establishes and/or maintains test lab for firmware verification and validation.

  • Work with test team to ensure adequate and appropriate test case coverage; investigate and fix bugs

  • Participates in functional and code reviews with team members for modules/tasks and ensures requirements are met. Develop and execute plans for incremental and interactive project delivery

  • Suggests and develops re-usable firmware components and looks for continuous improvement opportunities in Eaton’s switchgear and regulator controls.

  • Develops an understanding of both technology and product concepts and is able to articulate product and software design. Ensures quality and timely delivery adhering to the standard practices used in Agile/Kanban models.

  • Shares knowledge within the team and demonstrates flexibility working in parallel on multiple assignments/product categories

  • Monitors progress and achievements on projects. Provides timely status updates and reports to stakeholders.




  • BTech in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Master’s degree in controls/Firmware/Electronics/Electrical/ Computer Science or related fields is a plus

  • 6-10 years’ experiencein embedded software development using C/C++

  • 3-5 years’ experience in software development using C/ C++.Good workingknowledge of Embedded C

  • Experienceworking with GreenHills OS and development tools

  • Hands-on experience designing and validating firmware for 16/32-bitmicrocontrollers

  • Experience in designing and testing SCADA communication protocol stacks(RS232, Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet, IEC 60870-5-101, 104)

  • Experience in RTOS based application development

  • Experience in designing and testing microcontroller peripherals and driversfor SPI, I2C, UART etc.

  • Knowledge of version control and change management tools – SVN, JIRA,Crucible

  • Exposure to Agile or Kanban methodologies

  • Knowledge of power systems, switchgear and regulator controlsproducts/applications is an added advantage

  • Basic understanding of hardware systems and electronic components.

  • Experience working with lab equipment and tools like Multi-meters,Oscilloscopes and Power Supplies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,Problem solvingskills,Working in ambuiguity, process management
