Eaton’s Fuel & Motion Control, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a (enter title) to join our team. This position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.
The Lead Test Engineer is responsible for providing engineering team leadership and technical direction for the development, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software for the new product development of aerospace electro-mechanical actuation products from proposal through initial production. In this role, you will drive value to the project team by developing test procedures, scripts, and fixtures, as it pertains to system and component design development and deployment.
The incumbent will champion process adherence and improvement across the engineering organization and enforces adherence to processes and standards on assigned programs.
They will assist with continuous improvement through writing new processes and/or improving existing processes or standards.

Plan and execute the activities for identifying, procuring, installing, and debugging new test methods, equipment, and data acquisition systems with specialized sensors and signal conditioning.
Develop and apply the technical and diagnostic skills to verify functionality of test equipment.
Create technical project plans and oversees the validation activities for new testing concepts.
Oversee development testing and review engineering test data to ensure product requirement compliance.
Improve existing testing systems and processes.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years in test engineering or product development
Minimum of 2 years of technical leadership
Minimum of 1 year working in a regulated environment (aerospace, automotive, medical device)
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Prior Aerospace experience.
Prior Test Engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of Hydraulic Actuators
Ability to use CAD program for fixture design and development.
Experience developing data acquisition and control systems using National Instruments and MATLAB respectively.
Experience writing clear and concise test procedures and SOPs.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from management, engineers, customers or the general public.
Manage assigned tasks and team tasks to meet schedule and budget.
Analyze and/or interpret customer design specifications.
Define problems, analyze data and draw valid conclusions that result in solid recommendations.
High level of energy and personal drive.
Strong project management and organization skills.
Interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and technical documents.
