Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Lead Engineer - Modeling and Simulation Center of Excellence to join our team. This position is based at our facility in Jackson, MS. Relocation assistance will be provided.
In this position, you will design, analyze and optimize Hydraulic Power Packs. This includes hydraulic motors, valves and other components, using Computer-Aided-Engineering techniques (CAE) for Aerospace Systems.
The incumbent will communicate and coordinate with global engineering team to define analysis projects and to review analysis results. They will perform system and component level analysis and trade studies, often requiring development of new techniques. They will work to develop new methodologies and technical approaches as necessary to suit a given project based on customer inputs.
This position is expected to ensure designs meet the customer’s expectations and any applicable industry standards. They will work with product design teams to produce efficient product models for component finite element meshing.
The position calls for experience performing structural, flow and thermal analyses using ANSYS (Mechanical, FLUENT, thermal), and systems analysis using AMESIM or other suitable analysis tools. The candidate must be adept developing boundary conditions to ensure proper physics are captured. They must also be adept in CAD software such as PROE or CATIA.

Analyze and optimize Hydraulic Systems, pertaining to Hydraulic Power Pack technology, with established numerical techniques such as finite element analysis (FEA) and 1D dynamic analysis or through the development of novel analysis techniques.
Prepare presentations and represent Eaton at customer meetings as a technical CAE expert for the system design. Highlight issues and manage customer requirements when necessary.
Work closely with design engineers throughout a project to understand design constraints as well as provide feedback pertaining to structural and/or product performance needs.
Review project-related documentation and analysis results to ensure its completeness and quality.
Contribute to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination issues.
Communicate and coordinate projects with offsite team/consultants. Develop analysis work packages to be completed offsite.
Utilize and provide technical direction to global engineering resources in North America, China and at EIEC- Pune, India.
Document and prepare a formal report for linear and non-linear structural and fatigue analyses on systems, components and assemblies for aerospace fluid conveyance products.
Create test plans to support analysis and monitor testing of product.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 5 years of experience working on engineering or mechanical engineering
Minimum of 2 years of experience in modeling and simulation
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Master's degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of 7 years of experience working in engineering or mechanical engineering
Working knowledge of CAD software such as PROE or CATIA.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems, and material science desired.
Working knowledge of ANSYS (Mechanical, FLUENT and Thermal) and AMESIM desired.
Experience with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project desired.
Working knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE) is desired
DFSS Greenbelt certified preferred
Interest in aircraft system and controls modeling is highly desired.
Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
Ability to coach and mentor product design engineers with fundamental finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics tools and techniques.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coach and mentor product design engineers with fundamental plant modeling and controls analysis.
Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
Ability to create test plans to support analysis and monitor testing of product.
Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team.
