Supply Chain Supervisor

Job Description

Primary Function:

Directs and controls the flow of materials into the plant, maintaining the balance between lowering inventory turns and avoiding production interruptions.  Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities for product distribution and inventory management.

 

Manage employees responsible for ordering and expediting parts, leading physical inventory counts, shipping and receiving product and material, inbound and outbound logistics, and managing inventory levels across five product lines.


Essential Functions:

A.    Manages supply chain team to ensure objectives are achieved, such as material availability, efficient inventory levels, expediting parts, acceptable levels of excess and obsolete inventory, and hardware oversight.

B.    Ensures the most economical movement of materials in/out of plant to achieve cost effective logistics practices.

C.    Works with other Eaton facilities and vendors to ensure on time delivery.

D.    Manages the shipping/receiving and material handling team to improve material availability and organize inventory throughout the shop.

E.    Ensures utilization of proper procurement and receiving methods across the plant.

F.    Coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials.

G.    Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery opportunities and recommends and/or implements solutions to optimize inventory levels and manufacturing schedule.

H.    Evaluates work performance of the group regularly to build relationships, facilitate performance management, merit promotions, transfers, commendations, retain talent etc.

I.      Manages the sale of scrap and the return of excess and obsolete inventory to minimize surplus inventory.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, finance, or business.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ work experience in supply chain in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship.
 
POSITION CRITERIA:
  • Knowledge of materials planning systems, production planning, and inventory control.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO or QS.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in fast paced, change oriented environment.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in supply chain management.
  • CPIM Certification.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (sales, inventory, production).
  • Knowledge of Kanban, AS400 or related order-management system.
