The technology manager will actively collaborate with global technology managers across the research labs and businesses in identifying, managing and advancing electrification technologies in the industrial businesses of Eaton. He/she will be responsible for meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets for all research and development efforts under his/her control, as well as developing and managing relationships with Eaton business leaders and stakeholders. The manager will be responsible for building organization capabilities, hiring right talent and developing existing talent in line with Eaton’s needs in the area for EMH systems.

This person will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the external technical community and academia and leveraging these partnerships for significant advancements in research areas relevant for Eaton.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the team and equip them to succeed in delivering on project commitments.
  • Stimulate the search for creative technology advances in the areas of intelligent machines, mechatronics, electric vehicles and blended power that will drive compelling technology proposals, inserting these into product roadmaps to create a distinct advantage for Eaton’s products over competition.
  • Scout and hire the right talent based on organizational needs; develop and coach existing talent in line with focus areas and individual’s career goals and interests.
  • Champion global technology realization programs utilizing our internal Agile project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews.
  • Work closely with commercial and product leadership in business units identifying commercialization opportunities for new technologies developed in research labs.
  • Actively involve in developing comprehensive IP strategies for new technologies
  • Partner with other departments to shape up new focus areas and themes; builds 3-5 year roadmaps for technology advancement.
  • Effectively maintain & manage customer relationships, maintaining customer satisfaction and manage the scope appropriately. Monitor and report overall performance of portfolio projects. 
  • Lead the team in identifying, evaluating and transferring novel technologies that pertain to existing, as well as, potentially new product lines.
  • Have in depth knowledge of Business Division goals and strategies & identifies opportunities or connections that enhance business performance.
  • Influence leadership to secure buy-in for technology proposals, creating the right talent mix to contribute and execute on projects.
  • Actively participate in forums, drives initiatives on complex technical issues – forms a network and promotes technology as a thought leader

Qualifications

Requirement:

  •  Master’s Degree in   Mechanical / Systems / Controls Engineering / Mechatronics / Aerospace / electromagnetics / electromechanical actuation / advanced actuation / mechanisms
  • Desired: Ph. D.  Mechanical / Systems / Controls Engineering / Mechatronics / Aerospace / electromagnetics / electromechanical actuation / advanced actuation / mechanisms
  • 5+ years of engineering/technology development experience in relevant domain for the intelligent machines solutions development
  • Demonstrated experience leading people and/or teams in new technology or product development activities.
  • Excellent understanding of computational techniques and tools for analysis of complex electromechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with application development that includes lab scale testing and prototype development.
  • Experience interfacing with global teams and working in matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in thought leadership, technology strategy development, influencing others and leading new technology development.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, hydraulics, on and off-highway machines 
  • Direct experience leading industrial product engineering and technology solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering technology concepts through to commercialization is desired.
  • Demonstrated track record working from customer requirements through systems architecture concepts through to a multi-generation product plan.   Ideally the candidate will have experience executing the entire cycle.
  • Awareness of DFSS tools like FMEA.FMECA, Monte Carlo Analysis etc.
  • Possess strong business acumen and the ability to understand and formulate compelling value propositions.
  • Demonstrated track record working from customer requirements through systems architecture concepts through to a multi-generation product plan.   Ideally the candidate will have experience executing the entire cycle.
  • Proven track record for IP generation and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals is desired.
  • Experience in writing external proposals; demonstrated success evidenced by being selected for funding and successful execution of government sponsored projects is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with both physics-based and numerical modeling and simulation techniques.
