The primary function of Deputy Manager - Market Research (Global Hydraulics Business) will be to provide leadership to a team of Market Research analysts who partner with Eaton’s global hydraulics business (headquartered in USA). As part of the SMC organization, this position is responsible for supporting in the developing best-in-class market research function that is counted upon to bring up insights which enable Eaton businesses to grow organically and inorganically. Possesses strong understanding of hydraulics end markets and Eaton’s portfolio and will be a key input provider for strategic plan discussions to support long term business planning. The incumbent must have strong experience on secondary market research tools and methodologies, including a well-developed understanding of business, economic influencers and industry. Builds foresight for respective businesses through reporting & analysis of Internal & External research and enables the business to take informed decisions. Uses the visibility across Eaton businesses to develop congruent views on Eaton market segments and supports development of Eaton business strategies.

  

 This exciting role offers opportunity to:

 

  • Manage day to day Market Research activities of hydraulics business.

  • Meet the strategic market information needs of the hydraulics organization on a prioritized basis.

  • Regularly support the Leadership team by providing clear picture of market trends and updates on market environment through research reports and provide need-based solutions within the deadline

  • Optimize standard reports and analyze ad-hoc report for their criticality and urgency and drive value-based research approach within the team

  • Lead Market research projects which support the Business Strategic Plans, Profit plans and product roadmap sessions by furnishing required market intelligence data and analysis.

  • Determine key markets’ size, share, and growth globally and by region.

  • Support the Leadership team by providing Market, Customer, Competitor analysis through research reports and provide need-based solutions.

  • Provides consulting and interpretation of market, competitor, customer, platforms and product research data to the organization.

  • Review and interpret financial performance of Business Operations and report summary findings by customer, channel, and/or product division for Senior Leadership.

  • Gather and evaluate relevant market and competitor information to review market position and determine threats.

  • Develop personal effectiveness of market intelligence analysts in presentation skills, quality of work, and use of analysis tools. 

  • Conduct studies to determine sales trends, market share, and operating profit with the intention to identify opportunities to grow sales, strengthen market share, and increase profitability.

  • Forecasting the growth/decline of hydraulics end markets.



Qualifications

  • MBA / post-graduation in Economics /higher degree with minimum 7 years of experience in market research (in Hydraulics end markets).

  • Significant and proven experience with both qualitative and quantitative state of the art research methodologies. Ability to multi-task and be proactive & independent in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Experience in predictive analysis, primary & secondary research.

  • Good understanding of global macro and micro -economic factors which impacts the business.

  • Experience with market trends, customer expectations and economic analysis.

  • Able to articulate insights in a concise way, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to translate complex reports and analyses into simple ‘business speak’ and present results to internal customers up to the SLT level.

  • Ability to connect the dots and generate insights, prioritize business questions and recommendations.

  • Strong demonstration of ability to effectively work collaboratively across the functional organizations.

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into an organized collection of information to gain new insights.

  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy, planning issues, priority setting.

  • Results oriented, independent and self-motivating.

  • High degree of problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to develop relationships and communicate cross-functionally

  • Able to adjust to change.

  • Familiar with business intelligence systems like OBIEE.

  • Must interface with Sales, Marketing, Product, IT and Finance functions.
