Assembler - 1st Shift

Job Description

Eaton’s Electrical Wiring Devices Division is currently seeking an Assembler on 1st Shift. This position will be located at our Arden, NC facility.  

Position Overview

Fill customer orders for Industrial Controls Division (ICD) products by: Obtaining material from stock locations, setting up and performing a variety of assembly and test operations, Packaging the product and Preparing orders for shipping. Working with materials as: Plastic, metal, glass, and rubber parts, Inks and solvents, Epoxy and adhesives. Solder, flux, and electronic components · Lubricants · Paper and cardboard. Make critical adjustments to assembly equipment, as trained, in response to observed trends of test results, statistical data and visual inspection. This requires thorough understanding of the specifications of the equipment used in assembly. Contribute to process troubleshooting by reporting variations in parts and equipment performance and suggesting alternatives based on experience. Follow all quality procedures pertaining to the activities of the department and maintain a neat and orderly workplace

Essential Responsibilities:

  • All production tools and equipment associated with assembly, testing, packaging, and material handling in the ICD manufacturing department of the Asheville plant.

  • Provide guidance to new or less experienced employees in the same or lower classification.

  • Interpret customer orders (from the VISTA computer system) to determine catalog numbers, quantities, special instructions, and shipping information. Plan and schedule routine production operations based upon due dates and material on hand. Consult with the coach as required to resolve problems.

  • Determine material requirements, product configuration, and assembly procedures for standard products by reference to computerized bills of material and routings. Determine special configuration variations by interpreting engineering data sheets and drawings.

  • Set up assembly workstations and assembly equipment such as riveters, stampers, engravers, drills, testers, and special fixtures.

  • Perform a variety of assembly operations including riveting, stamping, engraving, machining, welding, press assembly, screw driving, soldering, manual assembly, potting, special processes, and others. Test and inspect the assembled product.

  • Package and correctly label finished products in individual cartons or bags as called for by drawings. Package entire orders for shipment, using packaging material, which most effectively protects the product and meets the requirements of the shipping carrier. Label the packages correctly and make shipping transaction.

  • Perform inquiries and data entry transactions on the business computer relating to inventory, materials usage, order status, quality, and shipping. Perform material handling and stockroom activities such as putting material in proper locations, cycle counting, picking stocked material for shipment, and maintaining associated records.

Basic Qualifications
  • Completed High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution  
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is provided for this opening, only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Arden, NC facility will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer skills in AS400, Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Previous Panel/Component Wiring Experience
  • Ability to interpret Wiring Diagrams and/or Assembly Drawings (Not Required but Preferred) 
Position Criteria
  • Repetitive bending and lifting of 25 lb. or more. General factory environment.
