Job Description

Eaton’s Cooper Lighting business is currently seeking a Driver to join our team. This position is based at our Hicksville, NY location 

 
Position Overview:

This position prepares and moves products to the end result of servicing customer demands based on required material deliveries and shipments onto trucks

  • Conduct local deliveries within the New York City / Five Borough region
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as invoices or orders to verify accuracy and record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes

  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route material

  • Accurately read, pick, and verify invoices or orders
  • Operate manual and automated wrapping and strapping machines
  • Deliver or route materials to departments using pallet jacks or forklifts

  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock

  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Prior experience driving truck routes in NYC area

Position Criteria:
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends with advanced notice.

  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment.

  • Attention to detail and adaptability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and quality priorities.

  • Ability to perform all job functions in adherence to Eaton’s philosophy and values, policies as well as the Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
