Senior Supplier Quality Engineer



An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Supplier Quality Engineer at our South Molton site.

The position is responsible for leading the measurement, analysis and improvement of supplier performance, defining and assessing the competency level of processes and manufacturing capabilities.

This role will be auditing a supplier’s ability to meet required quality customer/industry specifications.   Working closely with suppliers on training and development opportunities, includes internal and external suppliers. 



Your key deliverables:



  • Management of a small team of Supplier Quality Engineering personnel.

  • Continual monitoring of DMR status (Defect Material Reports) to ensure root cause is effective to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances as required.

  • Assists in supplier development activities, in conjunction with supplier personnel, to assist in delivery, cost and quality performance improvements, this will involve completing on-site supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance to requirements and assess supplier capabilities to perform required tasks.

  • Completion of a site Quality Council, integrating both internal and external customers into the process to manage issues on a trend/pareto basis to minimize impacts to our Customers.

  • Metrics to be managed include supplier DPPM (Defective parts per million), Scrap, DMR status and the supplier MRB (Material Review Board).

  • The Balanced Scorecard will also be required to be completed and presented monthly.

  • Trains and facilitates courses on supplier development and quality systems tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, Lean, 8-D, FEMA, Control Plans, PPAP and use of these tools to drive improvements.

  • Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams involving suppliers and Eaton functional disciplines to seek continuous improvement, problem resolution and cost-out initiatives.

  • Maintains supplier quality records in accordance with defined procedures, periodically reviewing them for completeness and effectiveness

  • Reviews engineering drawings and specifications with suppliers to ensure mutual understanding of requirements and product performance expectations

  • Coordinates part approval submissions reviewing contents for completeness.

  • Ensure that Regulatory, Customer and Business requirements are flowed to suppliers and sub-contractors. Develop and deliver training programs (Internal and External)























Are you?


  • Ability to lead a small team of Quality personnel to drive performance through the APEX process.

  • Ability to manage all Team dimensions

  • Ideally the successful candidate will be degree qualified however this is not essential

  • We are looking for a qualified auditor or a candidate who can demonstrate experience of working in auditing

  • Thorough understanding of customer/industry unique part approval requirements.

  • Detailed knowledge of industry specific quality registration schemes ISO9001 is essential, ISO/TS-16949 is ideal

  • Aerospace Supplier Quality requirements and EQMS System experience is required

  • Detailed knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements.

  • We are looking for a candidate with exposure and some experience within LEAN and Six Sigma training or exposure to various modules.

  • Knowledge of product and end user application/specifications, including product testing requirements. (design/process interface) this is ideal not essential

  • Thorough knowledge of gauging and basic understanding of product material properties. Ideal

  • Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams

  • Expectation is to continually improve the supply base process quality with an associated improvement in supplier DPPM Defect parts per million and reduced rejections to suppliers.
