Lead Engineer - Modeling, Simulation, Noise Vibration & Harshness

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Lead Engineer – Industrial Sector Modeling, Simulation, Noise, Vibration, and Harshness to join our team. This position is based at our facility in Jackson, MS.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will design, analyze and optimize aircraft hydraulic systems and components with an emphasis on controls analysis of complex products.  You will communicate and coordinate with global engineering team to define analysis projects and to review analysis results.

The incumbent will perform system and component level analysis and trade studies, often requiring development of new techniques. They will develop new methodologies and technical approaches as necessary to suit a given project based on customer inputs and gain experience in analysis of aircraft hydraulic/fuel systems and controls. 

This position is expected to ensure system designs meet the customer’s expectations and any applicable industry standards. Work with product design teams to produce efficient product models for performance analysis of aircraft fluid systems and controls.  You will mentor and coach junior engineers.

In this function you will:
  • Analyze and optimize aircraft hydraulic/fuel systems and controls.

  • Prepare presentations and represent Eaton at customer meetings as a technical CAE, highlighting issues and managing customer requirements when necessary.

  • Work closely with design engineers throughout a project to understand design constraints as well as provide feedback pertaining to product performance needs.

  • Review project-related documentation and analysis results to ensure its completeness and quality.      

  • Contribute to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, and difficult coordination issues.     

  • Communicate and coordinate projects with offsite team/consultants, providing analysis work packages to be completed offsite.

  • Utilize and provide technical direction to global engineering resources in North America, China and India.

  • Document and prepare formal reports for system or component performance analysis.

  • Create test plans to support analysis and monitor testing of product.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering or mechanical engineering

  • Minimum of 2 years with aircraft hydraulic/fuel systems and controls

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Jackson, MS will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in engineering or mechanical engineering role

  • Prior experience working in an aerospace environment

  • Knowledge of aircraft hydraulic and/or fuel systems

  • Working knowledge of Amesim, Matlab/simulink, PRO-ENGINEER desired

  • Experience with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project desired

  • Working knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE) is desired

  • DFSS Greenbelt certified preferred

Position Criteria:
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to coach and mentor product design engineers with fundamental plant modeling and controls analysis.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to create test plans to support analysis and monitor testing of product.

  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team.
