The lead engineer should stimulate the search for creative technology advances in the areas of intelligent machines, electric vehicles and blended power which will enable building the intelligent power solutions. He/She will be responsible for making compelling technology proposals, inserting these into product roadmaps to create a distinct advantage for Eaton’s products over competition. He/she will be responsible for meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets for all research and development efforts under his/her control, as well as developing and managing relationships with Eaton business leaders and stakeholders.He/she is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the external technical community and academia and leveraging these partnerships for significant advancements in power conversion research as relevant for Eaton.Working with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams, the individual will

  • Champion global technology realization programs utilizing Eaton’s Agile project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews.
  • Champions a technology idea from conception to implementation stage, managing deliverables executed by multi-disciplinary teams and serves as an expert resource for other engineers.
  • Leads program with focus on building next generation machine systems and develop potential solution architectures
  • Partner with other departments to shape up technology ideas and/or execute the same flawlessly
  • Manage customer relationships, maintaining customer satisfaction and manage the scope appropriately. Monitor and report overall performance of portfolio projects. 
  • Identify, evaluate and transfer leading technologies that pertain to existing, as well as, potentially new product lines.
  • Develops constructive solutions aligning to business needs and technology strategy.
  • Has in depth knowledge of Business Division goals and strategies.
  • Identifies opportunities or connections that enhance business performance.
  • Ability to influence and drive people / activities on complex technical issues
  • Actively participates in CoP/ERG forums – forms a network and promotes technology as a thought leader.

Qualifications

 Requirement:

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Mechanical / Systems / Controls Engineering / Mechatronics / Aerospace / electromagnetics / electromechanical / advanced actuation / mechanisms
  • Desired: Ph. D.  Mechanical / Systems / Controls Engineering / Mechatronics / Aerospace / electromagnetics / electromechanical / advanced actuation / mechanisms
  • 5+ years of engineering/technology development experience in relevant domain for the intelligent machines solutions development
  • Excellent understanding of computational techniques and tools for analysis of complex mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technology development activities. 
  • Experience interfacing with global teams and working in matrix organization.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, hydraulics, on and off-highway machine 
  • Direct experience leading industrial product engineering and technology solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering technology concepts through to commercialization is desired.
  • Demonstrated track record working from customer requirements through systems architecture concepts through to a multi-generation product plan. Ideally the candidate will have experience executing the entire cycle.
  • Awareness of DFSS tools like FMEA.FMECA, Monte Carlo Analysis etc.
  • Possess strong business acumen and the ability to understand and formulate compelling value propositions.
  • Demonstrated track record working from customer requirements through systems architecture concepts through to a multi-generation product plan. Ideally the candidate will have experience executing the entire cycle.
  • Proven track record for IP generation and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals is desired.
  • Experience in writing proposals is also desired; demonstrated success as evidenced by being selected for funding and successful execution of government sponsored projects is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence applications of machine learning with experience with both physics-based and numerical modeling and simulation techniques. 
  • Strong business acumen.
