Job Description

The Buyer will have the primary responsibility to locate vendors, place orders and provide follow-up to procure services, supplies, equipment and parts to effectively meet the Company’s production and business needs. May perform planning activities related to a product line or product line activity such as molding, outside processing, etc. as needed.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Purchases commodities and/or services.  Administers orders to insure maximum benefits  

of price, quantity and quality.

  • Assures that all procurement practices are conducted in keeping with applicable
  • Government regulations and company polices.
  • Responsible for vendor surveys, approvals, subcontractor improvement program and

negotiations.  Conducts negotiations with vendors relative to adjustments when

purchased materials do not meet specifications.

  • Responsible for compliance to small business and small disadvantaged business

programs.

  • Responsible for cost savings activities in all areas of procurement.
  • Review “Make” report and initiate work orders to cover requirements within the current

action date period specified in the report.

  • Review “Buy” report and initiate work orders to cover requirements within the current

action date period specified in the report.

  • Interface with other departments as required to support order booking, order processing, parts manufacture, receiving, inspection, stocking and shipping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • 3 years of experience in Materials, Sourcing or Purchasing; preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • 1 years of experience working with a MRP system

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area (within 50 miles) of Camarillo will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in hands-on design, implementation and operation of materials planning systems, production planning, inventory control, purchasing, logistics in a component-manufacturing environment

  • Experience with SAP

  • Proficiency in MS Office
