Eaton’s Hydraulics Power Motion Control division is currently seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, Michigan facility.
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for establishing, managing and coordinating all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security functions of the Jackson, MI plant; including but not limited to: Safety, ISO 14001, OSHA VPP, Corporate EHS Audit program (MESH) and other regulatory areas. In this role, you will provide technical knowledge and support to the manufacturing departments ensuring that the plant is operating in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner with regard to all Federal, State, Local and Corporate Environmental and Safety Regulations.

Prepare and submit all required environmental permit applications/renewals and routine agency reports, e.g., CAA, CWA, CERCLA, SARA, RCRA. Manages all plant waste disposal activity to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and enters monthly data into MESH Suite system for tracking.
Develop/maintain all required written safety plans, e.g., HazCom, BBP, Hearing Conservation, PPE Assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Lock Out/Tag Out instructions. Compiles required safety performance metric data for the OSHA log and for reporting to government agencies and to Eaton performance metric measurement databases. Coordinates the IH hazard assessment and monitoring program for measuring and documenting employee exposures
Develop/maintain plant emergency response plans and ensures drills are performed to document plan effectiveness. May serve as the Plant Emergency & Security Coordinator.
Review plant environmental permits and ensures terms and conditions are understood and complied with, ensures required documentation is maintained and required regulatory reports are submitted to the respective agency, e.g., air discharge permits, storm water discharge permits, local POTW permits and NPDES permits
Evaluate proposed projects and proposed new chemicals and ensures plans are in-place and implemented to address EHS compliance issues (Management of Change). Ensures the MSDS database is up-to-date for all materials.
Support and/or directs the plant’s ISO 14001 EMS
Ensure required employee environmental and safety training is completed on-time and documented. May perform training.
Develop and implements plant programs, policies and procedures to conform with Eaton EHS mandates, e.g., EHS Directives. Implements plant projects to improve EHS performance and sustainability metrics
Investigate environmental and safety incidents/accidents/near misses to determine root causes and prepares and implements corrective action plans
Ensure all required plant safety inspections are performed and documented, e.g., fire extinguishers, fire risers, emergency response equipment, safety showers, eye wash stations, emergency lights, ladders, housekeeping and that corrective actions are completed for identified deficiencies.
Functional leader of EHS Cell Leads, which comprise the EHS Team. Meet regularly with team.
Implement required MESH actions and tasks, individually and with the assistance of others in achievement of required MESH compliance guidance.
Support facility projects as need.
Other duties as assigned.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience in environmental, health, employee training, and safety programs.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the future.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
No relocation is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of the Jackson, MI facility. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Bachelor's degree in a technical area from an accredited institution.
Previous experience in facilities management.
Previous OSHA experience.
Prior experience with EHS regulations.
Strong computer skills.
