Design Engineer Conveyance Systems


Working for our award-winning Engineering Team at Lakeside you will provide technical advice and direction to both external customers and internal functions.


Your key deliverables:

  • To liaise with customer and support agencies on file transfer issues.

  • To provide the major technical role that will sustain and expand the use of CAD (CATIA V5), Enovia and PROLaunch

  • To undertake special tasks as requested by the Engineering Manager.

  • To take a lead role by acting as a Project manager on specific major projects as directed by the Engineering Manager.

  • Develop and maintain project plans using MS Project for allocated tasks.

  • To be a first line answering service for all customer technical questions.

  • To provide full technical proposal responses against customer technical specifications.

  • To utilize PROLaunch for all new product development as appropriate.

  • To compile test qualification schedules and reports when required.

  • To chair and report on any technical meeting during the definition phase of a project or job.

  • To help prepare maintainability, reliability and provisioning data for customer needs.

  • To be the main link with technical member of other Eaton divisions, in the resolution of application/specification conformance issues.

  • To support Sales Engineering and visit customer to conduct trial installations and offer technical expertise/solutions.

  • To play a lead role in understanding and using SSDD (Six Sigma for Design and Development) tools during the lifecycle of the product.

  • Design signatory – reviewing and approving designs where required.

  • To support Manufacturing Engineers in resolving design related process problems.  DFM’s/DFA’s.

  • To support Quality personnel resolve quality problems where design non-conformance is involved.  Rework, DMR’s, concessions, tech notes, failure investigations, also customer failure investigations.


  • Are you degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
  • Do you have prior Aerospace Industry Experience, within a design functional role?
  • Do you have knowledge of working fluid, conveyance products?
  • Are you experienced in leading problem solving events, i.e. utilizing 8Ds to an Aerospace Standard (AS13000)
  • Do you have experience with Catia V5?
  • Are you green belt certified in Design for Six Sigma?
  • You will have worked with a variety of Aerospace materials.
  • You will have prior experience of leveraging stress analysis to resolve complex technical issues.
  • The successful candidate will have experience of visiting customers and dealing with customers technical queries.
