Eaton’s Fuel & Motion Control, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Los Angeles, CA facility.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for technical support in the Product Engineering group, focused on new development and existing design of fluid power and motion control systems and components. In this role, you will be responsible for working with one or more Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to design, analyze, and implement product designs and design improvements in all phases of a product design lifecycle.
The incumbent will provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development and product improvements. You will act as the decision-making authority on behalf of Product Engineering for system and component design and the responsibilities for guiding and directing applicable IPT technical decisions and accomplishment of objectives.
They will lead and participate in efforts to solve problems with product design, inspection, manufacturing, and test encountered by vendors, company operations personnel, and customers, consulting with the Chief Engineers and Subject Matter Experts for guidance appropriately.

Serve as primary technical contact for multiple teams and liaison between Product Engineering and internal and external customers.
Create and/or guide the design of technical documents, including Engineering drawings (following ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.34 standards), test procedures, test reports, and design review material. Presents product design and substantiating data and analysis, design findings and recommendations to customers and management.
Ensure standardization of products and adherence to engineering processes across multiple projects, while supporting continuous improvement by offering input to standard processes and procedures.
Lead component design study and improvement for cost reduction and first time yield.
Participate in cross-functional Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations while providing engineering input and technical expertise and sound engineering judgment for failure investigation and for customer-returned hardware.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 3 years of engineering design experience using CAD software
No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA (90039) will be considered for this position.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
Mechanical Engineering design experience utilizing 3D CAD software
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical products
- Experience in the aerospace industry
- Experience with Pro/Engineer
Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) principles
Experience with Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and perform tolerance stack-up analyses
- Ability to work with limited supervision

Ability to proactively seek support from Chief Engineers or Subject Matter Experts
Ability to adapt and react quickly to internal and external customer demands.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for engineering design

Performs interpretation of engineering documents. Coordinates or performs update of engineering documents.
Ability to anticipate and resolve major program obstacles to maintain overall schedule objectives and to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
Ability to provide leadership, encouragement, mentoring, and coaching to co-workers. Provides direction to other engineers on project teams.
Ability to plan and lead multiple simultaneous projects. Establishes and oversees accomplishment of multiple project objectives.
Ability to collaborate with peers and managers to determine key goals, objectives, and corresponding metrics.
Ability to review and amend these goals and objectives as appropriate. Focuses on the timely achievement of these goals and objectives.
Ability to support targets and milestones for project budgets and schedules. Participates in resolving program change of scope issues with Engineering Lead and Program Management
