Manufacturing Engineer



Eaton Bedhampton are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing and quality processes. In addition to this you will be responsible for executing the organizations strategic plan consistent with regulations, established industry and Eaton’s standards, and customer requirements.


You will be required to liaise with external parties such as customers and suppliers, therefore travel within and beyond the UK travel may be expected. The role will also require you to have permitted access to ITAR sensitive data.


 Your key deliverables:


  •  Act as liaison between the Manufacturing Cell and other groups (including Aftermarket Product Support, Customer Services, Engineering, Customers and Suppliers), for Manufacturing and Quality Engineering issues throughout the product lifecycle;
  • Participate in New Product Introduction projects, utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning and other tools to ensure internal and external product and process requirements are met;

  • Develop and maintain robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes consistent with Lean Manufacturing methodologies;

  • Utilize Six Sigma and other statistical methodologies to evaluate and reduce product, people and process variation;

  • Measure, monitor and analyze customer and productivity metrics, participate in and lead teams to continuously improve performance. Report data and improvement plans to Eaton Leadership and customers;

  • Solve technical product / process and business process problems utilizing structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma etc.;

  • Execute the development, implementation and improvement of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Management Systems, throughout the Manufacturing Cell;

  • Participate in and lead audits of products and processes against Quality and EHS Management System requirements;

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of training relating to products, production processes, and to processes as they relate to Quality and EHS Management Systems;

  • Participate in the specification, procurement and validation of capital equipment, test rigs, tooling, gauging, and measurement equipment etc.

  • Responsible for implementation of standard and product specific tools developing sufficient control methods to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.















Are you?


  • Educated to degree level, preferably in a Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline within a manufacturing engineering role or minimum 3 years relevant industry experience

  • Knowledgeable within hydraulics or pneumatics;

  • Possessing a thorough understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques – i.e. pFMEA, Critical to Quality Characteristics, Control Plans

  • Well-informed of Six Sigma concepts and tools as they relate to minimizing process / product variation for example, regression analysis, design of experiments, hypothesis testing,

  • Fully conversant with the use of hand held measuring equipment, engineering drawings and geometric tolerances;

  • Possessing a thorough understanding of problem solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, Pareto charts,
