Financial Controller (Manager)

  • Reporting to the business unit General Manager, the incumbent is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for the management of the Finance team

  • Develop forward-looking insights to drive management decisions, actions and improve operational and financial results

  • Provide proactive leadership around issues and opportunities, drive short term actions to achieve current results while supporting the deployment of progressive strategies which result in a sustainable competitive advantage and strong financial return on investment

  • Provide technical competency to ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, local legal requirements and GAAP

 

This exciting role offers opportunity to:

  • Develop and coordinate business unit profit plans, strategic plans, monthly forecasts, goals & objectives, financial reconciliations, reports and analysis for the Senior Leadership Team, including variance analysis and cost control reporting and recommendations

  • Responsible for the implementation and deployment of actions to ensure an adequate environment of internal control. Provide compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and all applicable statutory requirements as they apply to their areas of responsibility. Active leadership required to ensure compliance is maintained for all financial activities as well as the safeguarding of business assets in compliance with corporate policies and procedures

  • Responsible for administrative process improvements within the business unit, create and implement procedures to improve the internal control environment, streamline efforts and provide increased transparency of financial results whilst managing the deployment of cost savings and other programs to provide operating economies and improve profitability

  • Proactively assist the General Manager to grow the business via new and expanded revenue streams eg: perform due diligence analysis of acquisition targets, new business development initiatives, financial review of development contracts and appropriate revenue recognition as directed by the General Manager, Divisional Controller and WHQ

  • Provide leadership to the Finance team to ensure adequate cost accounting processes are in place, including standard cost updates, physical inventory verification, periodic cycle counts, together with labor costs, fringe benefits, burden absorption rates, budget variances and freight etc. Analyse data to determine proper ratios of expenses to various levels of forecasted sales.  Participate in the establishment of pricing policies

  • Provide leadership to the Finance team to prepare and submit financial reports such as monthly financial statements, financial forecasts, tax reports and insurance reports (inc. fire, public liability, and workers compensation) to meet reporting deadlines and to maintain current records of company assets

  • Responsible to ensure assets assigned by the corporation are adequately protected and provide operations management with financial guidance necessary to produce the expected return on those assets

  • Assess taxation implications to the business unit and assist Eaton Industries Corporate in the preparation of information for taxation returns

  • Responsible for Building Organizational Capability (BOC) within the finance and SCM functions.  Establish a work environment that encourages individual career development and growth in order to provide opportunity for advancement

  • Evaluate and approve business unit’s capital appropriation requests prior to region/division and corporate management approval.  Monitor and report purchase commitments and spending for all capital programs. Conduct follow-up audits to ensure compliance for all significant capital investments

  • Develop performance goals and objectives in line with Profit Plan targets set for Inventory value, DOH and Cost outs across the SCM team; coupled with monthly reviews and action plans to measure improvements in target setting

  • Coordinate IT requirements within Corporate IT Platform. Lead adhoc projects including ERP system upgrades

  • Support other company initiatives including EBE, MESH, ELSS, Product Quality and other BPI efforts


     

Qualifications

Requirement: 

  • In depth knowledge of general and cost accounting, credit methods, BOM, Routing, manufacturing variances, Capacity Planning
  • Inventory management and DOH, transfer pricing

  • CPA/CA, MBA

  • Sound working knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and local statutory requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of Corporate, region/division and business reporting policies

  • Experience with Oracle 12R/11i/BI

  • Strong Professional presence; ability to adapt the style to fit the audience, inspires passion and

    commitment

  • Proactive to achieve financial excellence (ie: analytical, accurate forecasting, risk assessment and

    financial engineering)

  • Strong business acumen/understanding of the market and industry environment including foreign

    currency impacts, effective hedging protocols, and local customs and duty requirements
