Senior Engineer PCB – Layout Design – Fuels

Our Software, Electronics and Controls (SwEC) Centre of Excellence - Aerospace currently has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer – PCB Layout Design, for aircraft fuel and hydraulic systems solutions. Based at our Eaton Ltd site in Titchfield, Hampshire reporting to the Engineering Manager, SwEC Centre of Excellence – EMEA.



  • Responsible for all phases of PCB hardware development including schematic capture, constraints management, component library management, board layout utilising Cadence and allegro PCB design tools considering design for EMC/EMI, thermal management, design for manufacture and design for test. Utilising PCB technologies including double sided, multilayer, flex technologies, Insulated metal substrate and circuit technologies including high power density, analogue, digital and high speed.


  • Will work with electronics design engineer to identify the best PCB technologies and practices to suit the requirements of each project


  • Support the development of Eaton’s engineering processes to continuously improve technologies/ design/ product quality.


  • Will use their PCB design experience to identify PCB engineering problems and take initiative to generate solutions through a methodical and structured approach, providing technical guidance to others.


  • Support and lead design reviews related to PCB design within your areas of responsibly




Are you?


  • The successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated PCB layout engineer, with a proven track record creating robust, reliable high-quality designs; accurately, consistently, on time, every time. You will work with electronic hardware designers and mechanical engineers throughout the full product development life-cycle, supporting PCB outline, component placement and routing plus interfacing with external fabricators or vendors to apply the latest industry standards, tools and technologies to our designs.

  • Excellent organizational & communication skills are of particular importance, as the role will involve working across the business, with various engineering groups including mechanical, electrical and electronics, manufacturing engineering, supply chain and production

  • Familiarity with PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes and good working knowledge of relevant IPC standards.

  • Good communication skills including report writing and project status reporting both written and verbal.  Mentoring & coaching others when required

  • Previous experience working in a safety critical electronics arena, such as aerospace, automotive, rail or nuclear industry would be advantageous, although applicants from other high technology engineering backgrounds will be considered.

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of electronic circuits
