(Primary Function)


Responsible for the successful execution of New Product Development Projects, identified as critical to success of the Corporation, in line with ProLaunch process. Lead the Integrated Product Team(s) including local and global resources from various functional organizations to define and meet project schedules, budgets and deliverables.




(Essential functions)


  • Establishes, documents and gains approval of program objectives and provides direction to the project teams in areas of customer concerns, potential changes in scope and risk assessment.
  • Identifies resources required, prepares budgets and defines schedule to achieve program objectives
  • Organizes, monitors  and drives team activities to deliver program objectives including, but not limited to, schedule, budget, product cost, quality and performance
  • Ensures the project plans of the various functional organizations meet the overall plans, objectives and deliverables for the program
  • Regularly interacts with management and/or major customers identifying issues relative to program deliverables and defining mitigation plans for those risks
  • Defines and gains acceptance of program deliverables via phase Gate process (ProLaunch)
  • Monitors program status and regularly communicates status and risks to key stakeholders including  internal and external customers and management, using project manager toolset.
  • Simultaneously manages multiple projects of varying complexity to meet defined objectives. Must be able to prioritize and resolve conflicts between projects (Senior manager level)

  • Requires a BS degree in Engineering. MS Engineering or MBA preferred

  • Technical experience in engineering and/or manufacturing preferred

  • Knowledge in standardisation, regulation and environmental impacts of programs (including Eco design)

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and customer

  • Leadership skills, capability to lead change in an integrated team

  • 5-7 years experience in project management or technical leadership

  • Experience with resource planning and budget management

  • Experience with Microsoft Project and P-Review or an equivalent project management tool

  • Knowledge in Design for Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred)

  • Ability to develop financial and resource models for projects

  • Must be able to identify project risk, develop risk mitigation plans and then implement plans

  • Must be a self-starter that can independently drive projects forward to success

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team development environment

  • Experience with global and multi-cultural development teams preferred

  • Experience with UPS / power electronic or software & connectivity products preferred (system and architecture)
