Eaton’s Fluid Electrical Distribution division, a part of our Aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Beltsville, MD office.

Position Overview:


This position requires the ability to design, develop, qualify, and release new or existing production hardware products for aircraft ducting assemblies. This opportunity requires the ability to apply sound engineering principles, practical problem solving, and Eaton engineering tools (e.g. Gate review process) in an organized and timely fashion. Projects will range from iR&D through product development, qualification and sustaining engineering.


This position is responsible for being proactive in coordinating with Eaton Test Labs to schedule and monitor testing. Analyze testing data to assure compliance to the established requirements. Followed by reviewing and approving testing reports while also assisting with failure analysis examinations and Failure Analysis Reports (FAR) of test findings and field issues.

In this function you will:
  • Work as part of an integrated product team utilizing global resources to take a technical challenge from concept or problem identification, through to production release or final solution.

  • Develop new products from concept level, through its validation and qualification cycle for aircraft applications, following applicable regulatory and industry standards, Phase Gate Project process and Engineering Standard processes, utilizing CAD 3D modeling techniques.

  • Respond to Sustaining Engineering issues, developing timely, cost effective solutions to product life cycle objectives or problems.

  • Prepare Engineering inputs to customer proposals, creating solutions and estimating materials, testing costs and Engineering labor.

  • Perform mechanical design and dimensional analyses. Perform preliminary structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance analysis for design validation. Interface effectively with applicable.

  • Define test procedures and setups for development, acceptance, and qualification testing.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years engineering experience

  • Minimum of 1 years of design experience

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Beltsville, MD will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace engineering from an accredited institution

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution

  • DFSS: FEA/FEM experience, testing, Green Belt, DOE Design of Experiments.

  • Proficiency in CATIA v5 and PRO-Engineer Wildfire.

  • Proficiency in Product Data Management systems for document control and workflow management (ENOVIA is a plus).

  • Perform preliminary structural and mechanical analysis through FEA and/or kinematic simulation
