Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Eaton Corporation are looking for an entry level mechanical engineer to join a strong engineering team at its Bedhampton facility in the UK. The team is a world leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of aerospace hydraulic products, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets. The opening is within the company’s fuel & motion control systems division, which is in the aerospace group within the industrial sector.

Description of Duties

  • Contributing to product development projects, both new product introduction and resolution of in-service issues; independently and as part of an integrated project team.

  • Preparation and review of technical drawings.

  • Preparation of 3D models and conceptual designs.

  • Performance calculations analysis of hydraulic pump, motor and valve designs.

  • Material analysis and review.

  • Thermal and stress analysis through hand calculations and FEA tools.

  • Coordinating development and qualification testing to demonstrate product compliance to customer and industry specifications.

  • Failure investigation and corrective action as part of product development and qualification process.

  • Preparation of project documents and deliverables per Eaton’s aerospace common engineering standards.

  • Working in a cross-functional team to support the site with manufacturing issues.

  • Working in a high quality, high safety environment.

  • Working with aerospace industry standards and specification.

  • Working with suppliers and customers when designing technical solutions.

  • Working in a professional team in customer facing scenarios.



Job Requirements

  • BEng degree in mechanical engineering or similar; or equivalent experience.

  • Strong learning agility.

  • Proactiveness and ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.

  • Foundation electronic knowledge and ability to comprehend electrical and electronic principles.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Understanding of analysis tools, boundary conditions and constraints.

  • Good record keeping, meticulousness and attention to detail.

  • Good presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Good technical English and report writing skills.

  • Tenacity and focus to do self-driven work.

  • Travel – 10% of the time.
