Job Description

Eaton’s Lighting Division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Aurora, CO facility.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible to develop, document, maintain and support manufacturing processes and equipment that assure capable and reliable production of quality products for our architectural lighting product lines.

In this function you will:
  • Establish part processing to ensure the highest quality part at the optimum production rate and maintain/ update process documentation 
  • Review new part drawings and processes for proper machine application and utilization 
  • Continually evaluate current processes for methods improvements (safety, ergonomics) 
  • Review and approve initial tool drawings from division, machine suppliers, tool vendors, etc. 
  • Initiate and implement tool, fixture and part changes to improve product quality and furnish emergency tooling or alternate methods to support production 
  • Serve as a liaison between sustaining engineering, and shop employees during new equipment start-up, new product development and manufacturing process design
  • Provide support for set-ups and the associate training process 
  • Pprovide trouble-shooting service for production departments to minimize down-time and initiate and formalize cost savings at both plant and division levels

Eaton has announced its intent to spinoff its Lighting Business into publicly traded company (“SpinCo”).  This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 and this position is expected to remain with SpinCo.   The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  The Lighting Business is in the process of developing its total rewards philosophy, strategy and structure, including the design of its benefits and annual and long-term incentive plans that will take effect when SpinCo becomes a publicly traded company. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Lighting Business when SpinCo becomes an independent, publicly traded company, you will be eligible to participate in SpinCo’s compensation, health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans and programs and should have no expectations that SpinCo’s plans and programs will mirror or be substantially similar to Eaton’s.


Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future
  • No Relocation. Candidates must currently reside within a 50 mile radius of the Aurora, CO site. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • 5 years of engineering or operations experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Experience within the lighting or electrical manufacturing industry preferred
  • Prior project management experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Lean certification, Eaton Lean Six Sigma knowledge 

Position Success Criteria:

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to apply knowledge of processed/finished part prints, process sheets 
  • Knowledge of gages and check fixtures
  • Knowledge of statistical quality control
  • Lighting product knowledge, part flow (VSM) and alternative processing methods
  • Strong problem-solving and team work skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to work cross
  • Knowledge of ECN process
  • Machine knowledge (programming, tooling and set-ups)
