Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Eaton’s Corporate division is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in the new Aguascalientes, Mexico location.

 
Primary Function:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer working at Eaton’s new manufacturing plant in Aguascalientes - this position is focused on developing and improving manufacturing processes for new and existing products.  The position will be responsible for leading and supporting manufacturing projects including equipment install and start-up, new product manufacturing, equipment productivity improvement, and other manufacturing engineering related initiatives.

 

Additionally, this person will be responsible for the operation of the Additive Manufacturing machine on-site in the plant – which will include all aspects to go from a design concept to a finished polymer 3D printed part.  Parts that will be printed will be fixtures and tooling to support the manufacturing operations in Aguascalientes and other sites in North America.

 
Essential Functions:
  • Utilize strong project management skills to execute assigned projects and lead projects teams where necessary. Organize and lead team meetings for effective task completion per the implementation work plan and budgets.
  • Implementation and ongoing support of manufacturing processes deployed on production machinery that includes supporting the continuous improvement process when opportunities are identified to improve operation of equipment. Improve current machine tools to increase uptime, improve quality, and increase productivity.
  • Leads the Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) development and production for the site.  Works with Eaton global and N. America personnel to develop Additive Manufacturing best practices and support other site production needs as they arise.
  • Leads the creation of manufacturing processes, routings, and drawings
  • Leads cross functional Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) teams
  • Coordinates development of gaging and control plans for manufactured products
  • Investigate, analyze, and recommend new and/or alternate equipment and manufacturing methods
  • Able to develop optimal manufacturing processes and provide cost estimates for business cases.
  • Procure equipment and tooling per project plan and standards
  • Evaluate and verify processes and tool designs developed by peers
  • Manage suppliers to ensure on time execution of projects
  • Manage capital and expense spending for assigned projects.  Ensure that all spending is in line both from a cost and timing perspective. 
  • Assure environmental, health and safety requirements are satisfied when the project is implemented.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Three+ years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering position
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)
  • Ability to do 3D Modeling
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly processes, equipment technology, equipment capability, basic machine tool concepts, and product quality requirements for error free final product
  • Good decision making and communication skills
  • Capable of multi-tasking for multiple project assignments
  • Good team facilitation skills and ability to work with internal resources, internal customers, external suppliers, and external customers
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree – MBA, Engineering, Management, etc.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with lean, six sigma, and/or continuous improvement
  • High level of creativity in creating unique solutions
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing machines and technology
  • Knowledge and application of Eaton Business System tools for successful project completion
  • Knowledge and experience with the PRO-Launch process
  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge of:
    • Forging, Machining, Grinding, Heat Treat
    • Plating, Assembly, Welding, Inspection equipment
