Engineering Services Co-Op Student, Edmonton, AB (4 months)

Eaton’s Electrical Division is seeking an Engineering Services Co-Op Student to work at the Edmonton, AB Canada facility beginning September 2019.


Working with the Electrical Engineering Service & Systems group to provide field service engineering and technical assistance for customers in areas of electrical equipment maintenance, new equipment commissioning, custom electrical equipment modification, wiring, controls, drives and breakers. Manage and assist with assigned projects.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist different Field Service personnel in a wide variety of electrical work.

  • Assist in creating detailed project scope documentation and quality reports to customers covering the scope of work performed.

  • Assist with the shop maintenance, inventory, shipping and receiving materials and parts as required.

  • Follow required safety practices.

  • Manage paperwork and office procedures as required.

  • Be willing and available to work evenings and weekends as required by our customers.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in and returning to an Electrical Engineering Technology Degree Program.

  • This position does not offer relocation. The candidate must reside within 80 km of the Edmonton, Ca location.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

  • Valid driver’s license.      


  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship or co-op experience an asset.

  • Previous Manufacturing experience an asset.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics would be an asset.

  • Ability to self-manage assigned projects for electrical equipment, including working knowledge of electrical test and diagnostic equipment.

  • Good attitude and work ethic.

  • Understanding of the company’s and competitor’s electrical distribution and mechanical products.  

  • Demonstrated customer service ability.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
