Sustaining Engineer

Job Description

Eaton’s Lighting Division is looking for a Sustaining Engineer to join our Engineering team! This position can either be based at our Midtown ATL, Peachtree City, GA or Syracuse, NY offices.

 

The Sustaining Engineer provides support to Post Sales team and works with Quality team to debug field issues for our Connected Lighting products and Controls.

In this function you will:

 
  • Support post sales technical issues
  • Resolve quality issues related to components or manufacturing
  • Troubleshoot field related technical issues
  • Test and evaluate lighting fixtures, control circuits, IOT circuits, and various critical electrical components
  • Implement factory testing plans
  • Prototype, Bread board and build Proof-of-Concepts
  • Support Production needs for any design related issues / improvements.
  • Complete designs, maintain document control processes, change notice (ECN) releases and creating BOMs & part number set up.
 Eaton has announced its intent to spin off its Lighting Business into publicly traded company (“SpinCo”).  This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 and this position is expected to remain with SpinCo.   The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  The Lighting Business is in the process of developing its total rewards philosophy, strategy and structure, including the design of its benefits and annual and long-term incentive plans that will take effect when SpinCo becomes a publicly traded company. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Lighting Business when SpinCo becomes an independent, publicly traded company, you will be eligible to participate in SpinCo’s compensation, health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans and programs and should have no expectations that SpinCo’s plans and programs will mirror or be substantially similar to Eaton’s.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 6 months of Engineering work experience
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • At least 1 year of experience in analog and digital circuits
  • Knowledge of power electronic concepts and switch mode power supply theory of operation
  • Knowledge of control systems for lighting products
  • Knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, PCIE, SDI, USB, and other communication protocols
  • Knowledge of memory devices such as SNOR, NAND, DDR
  • Knowledge of basic IOT theory, specific understanding of BLE and Zigbee radios
  • Experience in writing scripts for test automation
  • Experience in writing automated testing equipment (ATE) code
