General Ledger Accountant
Location: Budapest, Hungary - BSC EMEA

Part of the Eaton Industries Finance Team, being based in Budapest and reporting into the Accounting Manager, this function ensures the correctness of all Intercompany transactions and a variety of general ledger related transactions according to internal as well as external (legal) accounting rules and policies.
Essential Functions:
  • Monitors and analyses all Intercompany Transactions including review of payables and receivables aging and clearing of Cash Allocation issues together with Shared Service Center; gathers information from Intercompany Partners to ensure correct and aligned statements at Month End following Eaton Financial Policies
  • Controls on a monthly basis prepayments and various other accruals by gathering information from the responsible operational departments and calculates the right level of reserves. Books potential required adjustments and maintains balance sheet reconciliations up to date based on Eaton internal guidelines.
  • Responsible for internal Reporting including RSD Schedules, Back-Data, EPM; runs a regular Cost Center Reporting and review with the responsible Budget Holders
  • Monitors on a daily basis all EMT transactions and works closely with AP in the UK, Finance departments from source plants as well as central IT functions to close issues in a timely manner
  • Supports compliance requirements with maintaining SOX documentation and Compliance Reporting. Ensures adequate preparation for Sarbanes Oxley audits, internal and external audits as well as tax inspections. Requirements include the maintenance of clear audit trails and timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensures Master data accuracy by auditing on a regular basis the accounting schemes, maintaining the Chart of Accounts and working closely with IT on Interface issue resolution.


  • Accounting / Finance Degree or equivalent professional qualification and 3 years accounting experience with a strong preference for an international manufacturing environment in a publicly listed company
  • Experience with External and Internal Audit, Sox compliance and monthly internal control requirements
  • Structured and analytical thinking; organized, methodical, must work well under pressure
  • Fully proficient with MS-Office, including advanced level in Excel; Access as a plus
  • Excellent professional written & oral communication skills required (English); German language skills preferred
