Eaton’s Lighting Division is currently seeking an Embedded Software Manager to join our team! This position is based at our Midtown Atlanta, GA or Peachtree City, GA facility.


The Manager of Embedded Software will be responsible for setting direction on how projects will be completed and executing the teams embedded development activities aligned with the short and long term business and technology Connected Lighting Internet of Things strategy.  In this role, you will work with product firmware engineering teams to identify platform requirements for microcontrollers & Linux based microprocessors. This leader will play a critical role in ensuring Eaton delivers a high-quality product, using world class software, rigorous system validation testing, with clear documentation in one of Eaton’s fastest growing business segments.

In this function you will:
  • Create platforms that can be leveraged across Firmware Nodes, Linux Gateways, Enterprise Server Proficient in RTOS based MCUs and creating an RTOS platform that can be leveraged across Firmware devices.
  • Lead the team of Embedded Engineers to create the platforms Experience with CI/CD processes to server multiple teams with different requirements
  • Design, Analyze, Enhance Efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
  • Work with QA and define Platform Test Strategy Assess Third Party, Open Source Software

Eaton has announced its intent to spinoff its Lighting Business into publicly traded company (“SpinCo”).  This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 and this position is expected to remain with SpinCo.   The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  The Lighting Business is in the process of developing its total rewards philosophy, strategy and structure, including the design of its benefits and annual and long-term incentive plans that will take effect when SpinCo becomes a publicly traded company. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Lighting Business when SpinCo becomes an independent, publicly traded company, you will be eligible to participate in SpinCo’s compensation, health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans and programs and should have no expectations that SpinCo’s plans and programs will mirror or be substantially similar to Eaton’s.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 7 years with Yocto OR OpenWRT OR Enterprise Linux Distros to create a custom distribution for various Product Engineering teams
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in one or more of the following programming languages (C, C++, C#, Java)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with Platform bring-up, Bootloader, BSP, Interfaces & drivers
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Atlanta, or Peachtree City, GA will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies e.g. BLE, ZigBee, Wi-Fi
  • Experience with messaging protocols, e.g. AMQP, MQTT, etc.
  • Systems engineering design experience within the IoT space
  • Experience with CI/CD processes to serve multiple teams with different requirements
  • Experience with 8,16,32-bit MCUs and resource constraint devices
  • Experience with the Agile SW development processes and tools
  • Scaled Agile Framework Scrum master
Position Criteria:

  • Proven track record of successfully designing, reviewing and delivering engineering systems
  • Strong knowledge of Linux OS, FreeRTOS or equivalent, IP protocols, I/O, memory & Hardware subsystem
  • Ability to manage the technical aspects of sub-contracted activities
  • Ability to communicate Platform roadmap items with stakeholders and provide maintenance releases.
  • Hands on working knowledge of wide range of technologies across the IOT stack including embedded systems, network topologies, transport protocols, cloud computing, stream processing, data management, analytics, security, identity management and application development
