Job Description

Eaton’s B Line Division is currently seeking a Technical Sales Specialist (Sales Engineer) to join our team. This position is based remotely in California. 


Position Overview:

The Technical Sales Specialist (Sales Engineer) is responsible for increasing customer preference and driving specification and demand for B-Line’s support system products in the marketplace for their assigned geographic region.  The incumbent will meet with engineering firms, architectural firms, consultants, end users, contractors, OEM’s, and others to deliver technical presentations, write specifications, and build and grow key customer relationships within a given territory.  The incumbent will also be responsible for training our internal and external audiences, including local agent sales teams and customers, as it pertains to these products. 

 

The incumbent will be expected to assist the internal product management and engineering teams with customer feedback on new product development projects.  In addition, they will be expected to formulate customer needs and concerns into workable product specifications to be implemented by the appropriate product manager.   

 

This position requires complex technical knowledge and strong communication skills to be able to make technical recommendations on product solutions.  A highly entrepreneurial sense of urgency along with a passion for the industry is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally.

In this function you will:
  • Drive B-Line national product demand through specification with end-users, Architectural and Engineering (A & E) Firms, and Design/Build contractors (D/B) contractors.

  • Develop and maintain liaison with top management of key regional contractor accounts located within the territory.

  • Understand and demonstrate the features and benefits of the full line of industrial support products including training others on product usage and applications

  • Ensure appropriate technical assistance regarding product applications to engineering consultants, OEM, users, inspection and standards personnel, contractors, etc

  • Inform the Division of business and product trends and competitive conditions within the region, and support new product releases and new/adjacent account development

  • Work cross-functionally to recommend, develop, and execute new or modified programs to ensure a competitive position is maintained within the sales territory.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum 1 year of technical sales experience, working with EPCs, consulting engineers, or OEMs.

  • Willingness to travel with flexibility on time requirements.

  • Ability to work independently from home office.

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates residing within the State of California will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Structural, or Electrical Engineering.

  • 3 Years working in a specification based industry and engineering experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience making group presentations.

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to think on your feet to field technical questions.

  • Ability to learn, grow, and deal with ambiguity and change,

  • A strong bias towards action

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • MBA is a plus
