Eaton’s Hydraulics Power Motion Control division is currently seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, Michigan facility.


The Senior Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting our customer base, identifying appropriate products and price levels for customer quotes. This role is also responsible for balancing sales growth and product fit with company profit margin targets to produce quotes that win the organization business.

  • You will provide local application support to key customers.

  • You will translate the customer's needs into a new cylinder configuration.

  • You will identify and calculate cylinder cost while also assisting the Cylinders Pricing Analyst with setting of the selling price within established guidelines.

  • You will be recognized as a technical resource on the cylinder product line.

  • You will complete higher complexity quotations within customer expectations.

  • You will coordinate communication between sales, manufacturing and customer service.

  • You will handle multiple projects simultaneously with emphasis on key customer prioritization.

  • You will lead design/process reviews when required to communicate special customer requirements.

  • You will stay abreast of plant capacity and processing limitations.

  • You will participate and shares in leadership responsibilities for continuous improvement teams.

  • You will participate in monthly low margin order review.

  • You will serve as Project Manager for complex designs, managing overall project from initial conception to shipment of final product.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in engineering, quoting, business development, operations, and/or finance.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), have been granted Political Asylum, or Refugee.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

  • No relocation is being offered for this role.  All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of the Jackson, MI facility.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior pricing/quoting experience.

  • Strong mathematical aptitude and the ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to read blue prints.

  • Experience in reading and understanding technical drawings.

Position Success Criteria:
  • Demonstrated high accuracy and high quantity quote output.

  • Ability to balance quote turnaround time and accuracy.

  • Strong mathematical aptitude and the ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry are required.
