Job Description

Eaton’s Lighting Division is currently seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position will be located at our Americus, GA facility.

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is responsible Implement manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Drive continual improvements activities for the whole plant through the application of sound engineering decisions, new product development for new product line implementation, Lean Six Sigma enterprise philosophes, and project management applications. Develop and lead improvement projects to generate savings in the plant to further the annual TWE goal of $2.2 million.

  •  You will be responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process

  • You will monitor, improve and maintain processes, layouts, and part prints.

  • You will participate in the manufacturing service budgets to acceptable performance levels.

  • You will maintain communication with divisional departments.

  • You will coordinate various capital projects and new product release.

  • You will maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis and technology applications.

  • You will develop and implement programs/projects that support the business plan of plant management.

  • You will manage the implementation of flexible lean/best practices and systems that support production operations.

  • You will plan and coordinate the design, specification and acquisition of production tooling and equipment.

  • You will participate in capital planning, investigate equipment alternatives, prepare appropriation justifications, implement equipment, and evaluate results.

  • You will provide continuous support to employee involvement teams.

  • You will identify corrective actions and target opportunities for improvement.


Eaton has announced its intent to spinoff its Lighting Business into publicly traded company (“SpinCo”).  This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 and this position is expected to remain with SpinCo.   The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  The Lighting Business is in the process of developing its total rewards philosophy, strategy and structure, including the design of its benefits and annual and long-term incentive plans that will take effect when SpinCo becomes a publicly traded company. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Lighting Business when SpinCo becomes an independent, publicly traded company, you will be eligible to participate in SpinCo’s compensation, health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans and programs and should have no expectations that SpinCo’s plans and programs will mirror or be substantially similar to Eaton’s.

Required (Basic) Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineered discipline from an accredited institution required

  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • SAP knowledge
  • Quality experience: PPAP, APQP, MSA, PFMEA, DFMEA, LPA

  • Internal auditing experience
Position Criteria:
  • Ability to read BOM’s
  • Strong program/project management skills
  • Highly proficient in statistical analysis and problem-solving methods
