Power System Engineer (R&D)

Eaton’s Energy Automation Solutions Division has an opening for a Power System Engineer to join our team. This position will be located in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville Quebec. 

 

 

Reporting to the Manager, Power Systems Engineering, this role is for a Power System Engineer working in engineering development of products and solutions in the business unit CYME International T&D. Responsibilities of the Power System Engineer include research and development (R&D), design, prototyping, validation and documentation of new features of the CYME software.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute new product development tasks in power systems
  • Participate in development projects in all power systems engineering development phases: specification analysis, research and development, design, support of software development team during implementation, testing and documentation for CYME power system analysis software
  • Support software developers and quality assurance team during the development cycle
  • Provide power system expertise team in projects and studies
  • Provide 2nd level of technical support for CYME software users

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Fluency in both English and French (working proficiency)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
  • Relocation is not being offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 80km-radius of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University graduate degree in electrical engineering

  • University degree from the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering (IEPE)

  • Knowledge in power system software (e.g. CYME, EMTP)

  • Knowledge in mathematics: linear algebra and numerical calculations

  • Knowledge in programming: procedural and object-oriented

  • Knowledge in programming language: Python
