In 2003, Eaton embarked on a journey to set up a best-in-class engineering center in Pune – the Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC). The center has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major technology research, new product development and sustaining engineering center for Eaton’s global customers.

   

EIIC has opening for Leader - Center for Secured Cyber Physical Systems that reports directly to the Director of Engg.  - EIIC Electrical Sector. This position is responsible for leading and managing the teams in two innovation center campuses based in Pune having over 200 engineers and technologists, and to provide overall leadership and direction working in close collaboration with the CTO staff and the global business leaders.

 

This individual will be responsible for leading a team of engineers working on various aspects of embedded, connected, mechatronics systems in the Industrial IoT, Industry 4.0 applications for Industrial, Electrical and corporate research labs with the primary goal of identifying, developing, and maintaining products and services that create significant growth opportunities for diverse Eaton businesses.

   

The leader will be responsible for meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets for all research, development and engineering efforts under his/her control, as well as developing and managing relationships with Eaton businesses leaders & stakeholders. Responsibility: 

  • Build the Team: Bring a passion for selecting and developing a team of well-rounded technical leaders focused on driving technological innovations and delivering on new product introductions.

    • Bring a strategic mindset to look forward to building the organizational capabilities, new technology and products investments and execution.

    • Manage Talent needs through talent acquisition, development and retention for the CoE engineering organization at EIIC.

  • Lead Technical Problem Solving Drive strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on systematic problem-solving approach. 

  • Drive Operations : Plan and monitor operational budget and bring a “Safety-First” mindset.

  • Build culture of Innovation and drive organic growth for our external customers.

  • Manage and Deliver Portfolio : Research, Development and Engineering portfolio in conjunction with sponsoring Business Unit leaders

  • Manages, directs, coordinates all engineering activities, including local group leadership and staffing activities, leading a team of over 200+  personnel. Ensuring continuous focus employee engagement & managerial effectiveness through execution on employee survey action planning.

  • Oversee the EIIC CoE group activities either directly or through subordinates including engineering processes Dfx (DfSS, DfR, DfMEA etc.,) applicable quality processes (CMMI, AS9100C, EQS, AgileStarts, PROLaunch, etc.), and applicable governmental processes (ITAR, EAR), and patent related activities.

  • Lead in the creation of technology road map strategies in unison with Business Units based on global strategy and deploy them within the CoE group at EIIC.

  • Ensuring internal and external customer orientation for the overall business are functioning properly with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Manage capacity and resources including software/hardware as part of organization profit plans



Qualifications

If you are:

  • Prefer Master’s Degree Or Ph.D.  in Electrical / Electronics/Mechanical/ Controls Engineering / Computer science or equivalent technical field from accredited institutions.
  • 18+ years of engineering/technology development experience.  10 years of experience in leading people. 
  • Sound knowledge & demonstrated experience of full Embedded development life cycle including requirements management, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing.

  • Expertise in applying Design for Six Sigma & Reliability methodologies in the course of their work. Sound use of DfX and PM tools and methods to drive engineering excellence for the group

  • Proven experience on Talent management (Hire, Develop, Retain), resource allocation and project management. Experience in resource management with both internal organization and collaborating with local / global partners for managing peak resource needs

  • Build relationships with universities, government agencies, and development agencies/companies to seek insight into regulatory changes, industry trends and promote Eaton’s capabilities.

  • Possess strong business acumen and the ability to understand and formulate compelling value propositions and to understand and drive through value and adoption chain.

  • Experience in leading projects with multiple stakeholders in matrix organization and strong project management experience is required.

  • Sound knowledge and experience of life cycle Process, Tools, Agile and Scrum Methodology.

  • Knowledge of topics adjacent to Embedded system Design i.e Reliability, Safety, Certifications etc.

  • Experience in developing a high performing, empowered and accountable leadership team to support business growth and to build organizational capability

  • Possess a deep understanding of how culture and team dynamics create exceptional teams 

  • Consistently acts in an ethical, open, honest, trustworthy and truthful manner.

  • Position requires up to 15% travel domestic and international.
