The Electrical Sector - Center for Connectivity & IoT platforms team has an opening has an opening for a Specialist Engineer–Embedded Connectivity  Architect. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical leadership to team on communications technology and the software development efforts, leading the embedded architecture, design and implementation of secure, reliable, integrated, and reusable communication platforms. We provide critical differentiation for our customers by delivering a scalable system to monitor critical infrastructure that connects to a vast array of devices regardless of make or model, and provides real-time, historical, and predictive data analysis capabilities.

You will be responsible for architecting solutions and leading technologies which can change the economics of connected intelligent solutions. You will design software systems, generate IP, plan and execute field trials to understand their needs, and work closely with the team to assess business impact and constraints. You must be highly proficient with current software development technology, tools and practices, and have expert-level capabilities in embedded architecture, RTOS, HAL, communication protocols, technologies & services, C, C++ & OOAD.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Limit yourself to 8-12 statements)

Lead architecture, design & development of Embedded Connectivity platforms (reusable, secure communications technology software platforms and reference hardware designs)
Provide technical expertise in  Embedded architecture, communication protocols, IoT Connectivity, and help businesses to quickly IoT-enable their connected devices /web apps
Act as Expert consultant to business groups in understanding connectivity needs and provide technical adoption support
As part of global architect team, define guidelines/whitepapers  for standardization of device connectivity & communication platform technologies. Present technical papers in industry conferences.
Work directly with business stakeholders, engineering, and test to create high quality products that solve customer problems.
Propose and provide innovative, competitive technical solutions which can make significant business impact and provide value to stakeholders
Provide work estimates and conduct design and code reviews
Develop and execute plans for incremental and interactive project delivery
Author high-quality unit-tested code
Work with test team to ensure adequate and appropriate test case coverage; investigate and fix bugs
Interview and provide technical assessments of potential engineer hires
Coach and mentor team members, assisting them in technical and process areas
Creates, and sustains process for design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control for the associated business group


Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science /Electronics/Electrical Engineering
Desired: Master’s degree in Computer Science /Electronics/Electrical Engineering
  • 12+ years of experience in the embedded software industry with a proven track record of shipping high quality products that delight customers
  • Expertise in  Embedded architecture, communication protocols, IoT Connectivity
  • Strong experience on Embedded architecture & Communication software development
  • Experience designing RTOS based systems including Hardware abstraction layer and device drivers
  • Experience developing Linux based applications and systems, device drivers and board support package
  • Good understanding of linux build process and unit testing frameworks.
  • 5+ years’ experience with C, C++, JavaScript, Shellscript, Python
  • Experience communication protocol evaluation, development and integration. Serial protocols (like Modbus/RTU, DNP3, Profibus, BacNet, SmartWire-DT…), IP protocols (like Ethernet IP, Modbus, ProfiNet, SNMP, IEC61850…), Wireless protocols (like Wifi, Zigbee…) and exposure to IoT protocols
  • Excellent object oriented design and programming skills, including the use of design patterns
  • Extensive experience utilizing best practices in software engineering
  • Experience in an Agile design methodology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts
  • Proven record in software development process improvement
  • Strong problem solving and reasoning ability, exhibiting technical innovation and creative solutions
  • Abreast of upcoming software development/engineering tools, trends, and methodologies
  • Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills
  • 5+ years’ experience leading an embedded software development team on technical front
