Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking a Senior Supply Chain Engineer to join our team. This position can be based at our Irvine, CA, Fort Worth, TX, Jackson, MS, Los Angeles, CA or Grand Rapids, MI facilities.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for implementing supplier innovation efforts as it relates to key supplier cost drivers due to design, technology, materials, processes and transactional inefficiencies. In this role, you will act as the engineering knowledge interface/Point of Contact (PoC) for supplier technical collaboration, with typical product knowledge and experience that includes either and/or both Fluid & Electrical Distribution (FED) and Fuel & Motion Control Systems (FMC) Division product lines across the Global Supply Chain Organization.
The position is responsible for the recognition of the benefits that supplier innovation brings to product design, process and manufacture to drive strategic cost reductions. The position is fully integrated into the Supply Chain (SC) organization, directly reporting into Sr. Engineering Manager and interfacing with the wider Engineering and Operation organizations.

You will have Intellectual Property (IP) awareness and ownership as it relates to a specific product lines and/or product families and/or groups.
You will comply with Governance / Risk / Compliance requirements as required for working with suppliers, including taking the training and/or completing identified actions.
You will lead, guide, and support supplier cost out work as it relates to design, technology, materials, processes and transactional efficiency as controlled by engineering drawings, specifications and standards and process documentation.
You will support Commodity Managers as the technical interface with Supplier to identify cost out drivers / suggestions as presented through IDEAS (Innovation Drives Excellence, Achievement and Savings) database, or from Supplier and/or Plants VA/VE events, or through Engineering VA events.
You will provide engineering costs and/or schedule estimates in support of cost benefit analysis and for should cost modeling.
You will support Commodity Managers at the IDEAS and CODB (Cost Out DataBase) database meetings through preparation of the engineering deliverables to status, prioritize and manage the cost out workload.
You will participate in supplier development activities with Suppler Develop Engineers (SDE’s) specifically to review supplier innovation suggestions and/or opportunities.
You will work directly and collaboratively with Commodity Managers/Purchase Managers and Suppliers, and Integrated Product Teams (IPT) in a cross-divisional matrix environment to implement supplier cost out and innovation efforts.
You will plan, manage, and execute supplier cost out projects working in ENOVIA, and employing EPIC and/or PRE/Prolaunch processes that are applicable, following ACES guidelines.
You will review, create and/or modify component details/assembly drawings/documents and/or CAD models working with cognizant Product teams/ Chief Engineers /COE / EIEC to maintain design configuration control.
You will create Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) and Requests (ECR’s), Bill Of Materials (BOM’s) Test Plans and/or Test Reports for presentation and approval at the Work Release Board (WRB) and/or Change Control Board (CCB).
You will provide regular formal and informal updates for supplier cost out reviews to Engineering, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Plant Leaderships.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in any of these areas: mechanical, materials, electrical, electronics, hydraulic/fluid, manufacturing, computer science, software, aerospace, or systems engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant product design, development, and/or sustaining engineering design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- No relocation is being provided. Candidates must reside within a 50 mile radius of Irvine, CA, Jackson, MS, Grand Rapids, MI, Los Angeles, CA, or Fort Worth, TX to be considered for this role.

- Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, Systems and/or Hydraulic or Fluid Engineering) from an accredited institution.
Mechanical Engineering design experience utilizing 3D CAD software
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical products
- Experience in the aerospace industry
- Experience with Pro/Engineer
