Senior Quality Engineer

Job Description

Eaton’s Vehicle division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Kings Mountain, NC facility.

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading the continuous improvement activities in Assembly and Manufacturing in support of the Eaton Quality System (EQS) and the Eaton Business System (EBS) as the “voice of the customer” for the facility.  In this role, the driving focus will be on internal quality performance, continuous improvement, PPM reduction in Assembly/Manufacturing.

  • Implements quality tools to solve problems and drive Continuous Improvement. Apply the lean manufacturing tools as described in the Eaton Lean System.

  • Develop / implement root cause analysis and corrective actions using SPC data, 8D, 5 Why, A3 and lean tools to support initiatives around the improvement of FPY, reduction of internal and external DPPM (DMRs/ZMPDs/LMPDs), rework & scrap.

  • Develop capability analysis for machine moves, new machines, etc.

  • Approve/assign in process inspection gauging & criteria to ensure delivered component Quality.

  • Drive final inspection audit criteria to ensure delivered component Quality.

  • Develop internal product validation/inspection methods to ensure process Quality consistency.

  • Monitor CTQ trends and lead efforts to keep processes in control.

  • Manager of Quality Technicians & activities.

  • Trains employees in quality tools:  SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Gaging Methods, etc.       

  • Understands and interprets customer requirements, to include new product launch, execute PPAP & APQP activities in accordance to EQS / IATF16949 Standards.

  • Support the Assembly and / or Manufacturing Flow Line Team(s).

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of direct quality experience

  • Previous experience working in the automotive/vehicle industry (IATF 16949 regulated environment)

  • CQE Certification

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, SPC (Infinity / Minitab), MSA, Lean Methodology

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of GD&T, quality problem solving tools, DOE
