Job Description

Eaton’s Vehicle Sector is seeking a Engineering Co-op to work at the Marshall, MI location.  

The primary function of the Cooperative candidate is to be responsible for assisting in the development and application of passenger car and commercial vehicle valve train control products. This individual will work with senior product engineers to deliver solutions to challenging product improvements, cost out, and manufacturing plant projects.

This role will work April thru June then October thru December – and go to school on the off cycle.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support Product Engineers in development and execution of test plans to validate new designs

  • Perform failure root cause analysis and problem solving within a team to identify and isolate product issues and
    recommend solutions

  • Develop detailed engineering materials including technical reports to provide product documentation

  • Communicate plans, status, and results to senior engineers and leadership

  • Collaborate with suppliers, internal laboratories and test track facilities to ensure the successful completion of product
    development and validation testing

  • Work in a team environment to identify process improvements, product cost reductions, and reliability improvements


Basic Qualifications:
  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s degree program in Science or Engineering from Kettering University

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required (please do not round)

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship currently or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in Mechanical Engineering program
  • University student currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Engineering knowledge and experience in product development from concept to product launch and product post launch engineering maintenance

  • Demonstrated problem solving and failure analysis skills

  • Self-motivated and possessing a drive for results
