Senior Development & Test Engineer

Working as a part of our award-winning Engineering team you will lead, plan and execute the testing programs

Job Role

  • Leading, planning, executing and monitoring development and qualification testing programs and activities on complex aircraft components, with support and guidance from engineering team.

  • Design and practical assembly of bespoke hydraulic and electro-hydraulic development and qualification test setups, with coaching and guidance from engineering team.  

  • Development and configuration of closed loop control systems, both mechanical and electronic.

  • Support with design and development of new engineering / production hydraulic test rigs.

  • Lead internal team meetings and presentations.

  • Preparation, review and approval of detailed development and qualification test reports.

  • Preparation, review and approval of qualification test procedures that demonstrate verification of a design, in compliance with customer specification requirements

  • Development and assembly of prototypes and engineering test units.

  • Technical approval of hydraulic development and qualification test setups.  

  • Ownership and maintenance of engineering procedures related to engineering development and test.

  • Design and analysis of test fixtures using 3D CAD software, using hand calculations and finite element analysis.

  • Working to aerospace industry standards & specifications, as well as aircraft specific requirements.

  • Managing and being accountable for engineering test equipment, instrumentation and facilities.

  • Ensuring timely and consistent communication on status of development and qualification activities and working to project deadlines.

  • Support to testing and investigation of in-service failures & air accident investigations.

  • Working in a high quality, high safety environment.


Qualifications

Are you?

  • BEng degree or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in a professional engineering environment, in aerospace or other highly regulated industry.

  • Experience configuring test instrumentation useful but not essential.

  • Good practical skills and willingness to engage in hands-on activities.

  • Strong learning agility.

  • Proactiveness and ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.

  • Basic understanding of control system theory.

  • electronic knowledge and ability to comprehend electrical and electronic principles.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Good record keeping, meticulousness and attention to detail.

  • Good presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Good technical English and report writing skills.

  • Working in a professional team in customer facing scenarios.

Travel – 10% of the time.
