Eaton’s Lighting division is currently seeking a Quality/OPEX Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Americus, GA facility.


The Quality/OPEX Manager reports to the Plant Manager.  The Quality/OPEX Manager should have a good knowledge in the state of the art of quality assurance and control and advance manufacturing processes and technology.  The Quality/OPEX Manager must have a thorough knowledge of all lighting products and manufacturing processes.


In this role, you will lead the Lean efforts within the facility and leads the management team in process improvements and cost savings. You will be responsible for the development of the organization in the understanding and use of Lean tools and ensure that plant is continually moving toward the continued improvements and cost saving measures. You will be responsible for leading the OpA program in the facility.

In this role, you will:
  • On a Company wide basis plan, develop, formulate and direct quality control programs, manufacturing processes, equipment and procedures and methods involving inspection methods and control techniques to insure conformance to product engineering specification and product reliability requirements at minimum cost.

  • On an indirect basis, (dotted-line responsibility) be responsible to insure all receiving and inspection functions and employees at all facilities perform their responsibilities in accordance with quality standards.

  • Plan, develop and coordinate the implementation of new manufacturing systems as requirements dictate, which may include the responsibility of ISO 9000 Management Representative.

  • Establishment of Specifications and Standards:  Develop appropriate information and participate in the establishment of quality specifications and standards for raw materials and for process and finished goods.  Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to ensure product standards are in accord with all testing, certification, and standard requirements.

  • Research:  Direct and assist in conducting research on product defects in conjunction with engineering personnel and recommend modifications to meet product quality standards.

  • Facilitate problem solving efforts to reduce cycle times and eliminate waste/cost of poor quality, apply value stream analysis to improve process efficiency, establish process flow, achieve measurable results and achieve breakthrough performance.

  • Must be an agent of change by identifying opportunities, waste strategies and tools across the entire business, including administrative processes.

  • Managing multiple projects in a team-based, dynamic environment and clearly setting and communicating priorities and targets to others on the team.

  • Collaborate with both corporate and local leadership to develop and define CI and OpA plans that focus on key performance factors such as process stabilization waste elimination, cycle time reduction and productivity improvement.

  • Exploring and recommending traditional and non-traditional approaches in resolving issues pertaining to improvement processes in line with Company goals.

  • Achieving timely results associated with tasks and objectives.

  • Leads the plant CI resources to ensure that the CI plans are carried out and the objectives are met.  Specifically ensures that time commitments are achieved and time lines are met with respect to the specific productivity and process improvements that have been identified.

  • Championing Lean/Six Sigma & OpA activities in a continuous improvement environment.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of combined work experience in a Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement function

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Americus GA facility will be considered.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management position

  • Knowledge of machining, assembly operations, problem solving, gauging, process capability, SPC, APQP, and quality management systems ISO/9001:2008.

  • Experience using PC configured with MS Windows OS and Office software is desired.

  • Knowledge and experience with AIAG Core Tools (SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, QSA).

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Greenbelt (CSSGB) is preferred but not required.
